I think we're missing the entire point of this hackathon.
1. The game/app that takes the top spot needs to meaningfully incorporate elements of Axie Core, i.e. breeding, AXP, burn mechanics, etc. If you're not embedded in the Axie ecosystem, it's going to be pretty damn hard to build something that actually matters to the ecosystem.
2. This is an Axie community-focused hackathon, not a competition designed to attract established professional dev studios. It's meant to showcase talent, ideas, visions, and, most importantly, people who want to start building their own experiences within Axie.
If Sky Mavis wanted professional dev teams to come in and compete, they could've put something much bigger on the table, like $500K worth of AXS, and marketed it accordingly.
3. And let's not pretend participants didn't know what they were signing up for. Everyone knew the rewards, everyone knew about the "tax" on bAXS, and 400+ entries still came in.
And if someone didn't do their own research beforehand, well... DYOR still applies.
If you look at the rewards and mechanics and decide that it's not worth your time, that's completely fair, specially if you are a professional and seasoned game developer. You can simply idk...choose not to participate?
Nobody is forcing anyone to enter the hackathon.
But entering, knowing the rules, competing alongside 400+ other submissions, and then complaining about the prize after the fact is a bit of a weird.

We are going to attempt something with Axie Classic that has always been at the heart of what attracted many to axie in the first place.
Classic has a strong, stalwart community. However, SM cannot justify the time/effort to maintain the game since the game is neither making us signiciant money nor contributing to the Treasury which would contribute to AXS value.
Therefore, we are going to dream up something that's potentially a world first, a community take over of the game. The first CTO of a live game? Let's see.
This has been something that we've been working on alongside many of the classic OGs for awhile now.
Is it likely to work? That's for YOU to decide. It's a difficult, interesting problem, the type of difficult, interesting problem that got me into Axie all those many years ago and I believe it has the chance to attract the right type of thinking and building that made Axie great in the first place.
If we're not doing things that have never been done before, then we have lost our way.

@AxieInfinity governance at work. I can guarantee no other web 3 project is approaching its community and talking about onchain governance the way the Axie community is.
All we need to do is get people excited about Axie again.
@SkyMavisHQ needs to start releasing more info/teasers for Atia's Legacy
Governance needs to regularly engage/educate the community, unlock the Axie treasury, pass the constitution, and get people working alongside SM to push out a game that the community can rally behind once again.
Axie thriving again is good for everyone on the @Ronin_Network !

This is something we can absolutely agree on!
I think this is the predicament that we find ourselves in right now.
But for context, the voting cap in its original form existed primarily for legal reasons but also as a backstop to prevent people from exploiting or having near full control of AIP votes. The original wording was not necessarily clear and the implementation was slightly a dev oversight which is why we want to add/clarify it now.
So a hard cap was intended to be part of the original design but it was slightly overlooked. This has obviously caused major implications both fundamentally (as it pertains to voting) and optically now (the perception that we are making changes without following AIP or council structures).
We have some options -
1. make the change which was how it was intended to be in the first place
2. pass the constitution and vote to amend
3. make changes to axie score so that asset holdings are not disproportionately valued over the other pillars.
Would love to hear the thoughts of others.
