We are looking a foster home, ideally with a view to adopt, for Millie and Sadie - a very bonded pair who need to come to us due to their owner’s very valid personal reasons.
The girl’s went to their current home as ex-breeders and they are believed to be around 9-10 years old.
The girls are lovely, sweet-natured girls who are used to living with children, other dogs, cats and being around horses, chickens and rabbits!
We would love a quiet, calm home for the girls, where they aren’t left for huge periods of time (though they are fine to be left).
They are housetrained, travel well and walk nicely on a lead.
Both girls are spayed so we would consider a home a little further afield. They will be under our care for health checks and restart vaccinations before adoption.
If you would like to be considered for this beautiful pair, please fill in an application form at yappyeverafter.org.uk
Please note, we will not be splitting them under any circumstances.
They are not showing on the website yet but more pictures are on the facebook page below.

Please read & share.
Benji has specific needs.
If you think you’re able to help this beautiful boy, please get in touch with Greenacres!
There’s someone out there who can give him the best years of his life.
🐕Meet Benji, a gorgeous 9 year.old Yellow #Labrador who, on the whole, is a fantastic lad & great fun to be around🐕
📖PLEASE READ BENJI'S PROFILE VERY CAREFULLY📖
Benji is everything you would expect from a Lab - goofy, playful, affectionate & loyal, with a lovely character that is very easy to fall in love with BUT....
‼️🏡Benji does, however, have some specific behavioural needs, so we are looking for a particular type of home where these can be understood & managed, allowing him to settle, feel secure & truly thrive🏡‼️
⚠️Benji can display some low-level resource guarding, usually around high-value items. This is something that can be managed & redirected with distraction but his new family will need to be experienced, confident & understanding of his needs⚠️
🏡❌️🐕❌️🏡Benji must be the only dog in the home. Sharing his home with another dog gives him something else to guard against. Being an only dog will help reduce the opportunity for this behaviour🏡❌️🐕❌️🏡
✅️🐕🦺🌳He is dog-friendly. Benj mixes well with other dogs & happily enjoys walks alongside them🌳🐕🦺✅️
🏡❌️🚸❌️🏡He will also need an adult-only home. Benji is loving towards children when he meets them but sharing his living space with children would increase the potential for his guarding behaviour🏡❌️🚸❌️🏡
🏡His adopters will also need to understand that the transition into a new home can be stressful & his behaviour may temporarily become more pronounced before improving as he settles, learns to trust his new people & feels secure
🏡In a home with patience, consistency, understanding & plenty of love, we truly believe Benji can blossom
🏡We aren't looking for a perfect home, we're looking for his person. Someone who will see the lovely dog underneath the behaviours & give him the time & security he needs to succeed
We appreciate that this may sound like a lot to ask, but Benji really is a wonderful dog. Beneath these behaviours is a goofy, loving & loyal Labrador who has so much to offer the right person
🏡If you think you can offer Benji the right home, please complete the application form by following the link below👇

Can we have some shares for Connie to help her on her way? 🙏 🐶 🐾 she’s not had any enquiries so far.
Connie is a 9 year old female cross breed. She is looking for a new home as sadly her owner passed away.
Connie is best in a home without other pets as this is what she is use too. She would be best in a home without kids.
Connie is chipped and spayed and fully house trained.
She gets heart medication daily for her cardiac valve, she does well on her medication which doesn't cause her any issues.
Connie eats butchers complete wet food, grain free and absolutely loves treats!
She adores people and will jump up to sit next to anyone who visits. She is registered with the vets.
Her owner's family have agreed to pay half of her monthly medication for the rest of her life.
Connie travels well in the car.
She walks well on the lead but will pull if she sees another dog.
Connie isn't a fan of being groomed.
She would be best with someone who is on their own or a couple looking for a companion.

So many otherwise trusted sites are posting deadly misinformation about bonfires, and hedgehogs who may be nesting under them.
PLEASE BE CLEAR:
❌Poking a broom or stick under the bonfire will do nothing - even if you actually hit the hiding hedgehog and hurt her, she will NOT run.
Hedgehogs DO NOT have the flight or fight reflex that humans and other animals have. Their response to threat and danger, and even pain, is to curl into a ball and stay put, and wait for the danger to pass.
❌A hiding hedgehog will NOT hiss, or make any sound at all! They are a prey animal, you are a predator - they will NOT alert a predator to their presence, they will stay silent.
❌Lighting the bonfire from one side will NOT WORK. Their response to danger is to STAY PUT AND CURL INTO A PROTECTIVE BALL. They won't come running out. As the heat comes closer and the smoke fills her lungs, a hiding hedgehog will just curl tighter.
Whoever wrote these 'tips' does not understand the nature of a hedgehog.
THEY DO NOT RUN FROM DANGER.
Broadcasting this total nonsense is spreading a false sense of security and is potentially extremely harmful.
The only safe bonfire is one that is built or moved ON THE DAY IT IS LIT.
Moving a bonfire takes less time than you'd think.
There are lots of late-born baby hedgehogs around right now, who would see a bonfire as a safe place to nest.
Regrets won't turn back the clock.
The 'If only' will haunt you for a lifetime.
If you have to have a bonfire, please make sure you do it right.

Breed: Belgian Shepherd Dog (Malinois) Meet Merlin and Luka, a pair of charming Belgian #Malinois aged nine and seven. These loyal boys arrived at Bleakholt after their owner sadly had to move into a care home 💔 💔 💔 They have clearly been well loved and well trained: they walk beautifully on both lead and harness and remain calm and non-reactive around other dogs.
Although experience with Malinois is an advantage, it isn’t essential. They are large in size, yet their manners are impeccable.
Given their age and stature, Merlin and Luka would thrive as the only pets in the household. They would make ideal companions for a single person, a couple, or a family with older teenagers who are confident around bigger dogs.

If you are starting to build your bonfire for next week, please remember NOT to build it on the spot where it will be lit.
You’ll need to move it the day you light it, or fence off the building area NOW, to prevent wildlife deaths.
A hedgehog who has made it as a nest won’t move if you poke her with a broom, light the bonfire from one side, shine a torch under, or any of the other myths that you have read from well meaning sites.
They’ll just stay in a frightened ball and be burnt to death.

In September 2025, Scottish SPCA inspectors were called after reports of a dog screaming from Glenn Tweedie's property in #Loanhead. He initially claimed that Caillie had been euthanised by a vet because she was allegedly suffering pain connected to her reproductive cycle. That story quickly unravelled.
After learning that inspectors intended to verify his account, former boxer Tweedie admitted that he had killed the dog himself. He claimed he could not afford veterinary treatment.
According to his own account, he struck Caillie twice over the head with a hammer. The blows failed to kill her, leaving her conscious and suffering. He then stabbed her through the chest with a large knife. Although he aimed for her heart, he pierced a lung instead.
Veterinary evidence showed that Caillie's suffering began when she was struck with the hammer. The stab wound caused catastrophic bleeding, leading to a slow and agonising death. Reports stated that she effectively drowned in her own blood.
Afterwards, Tweedie placed her body in a refuse bag, carried her to nearby woodland and concealed her remains beneath branches at the bottom of a ditch.
A post-mortem examination found no evidence supporting his claim that Caillie had been suffering from reproductive-system pain. Investigators concluded that the suffering began only when he attacked her.
On 28 October 2026, Tweedie was sentenced at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and banned from owning or keeping animals for life. He also received a 12-month tagging order, an 18-month supervision order.
The investigating Scottish SPCA inspector described the attack as "the most eye-wateringly violent conduct towards a completely innocent pet" that he had encountered.
Many will struggle to understand why such an exceptionally brutal case, involving repeated violence against a defenceless dog and an apparent attempt to conceal the evidence afterwards, did not result in a prison sentence.

Pumpkins:
Halloween is one night.
Tonight.
If you have to waste a food item (and I strongly suggest you don't), please put it out for that one night, then safely dispose of it.
Please DO NOT put it out for the wildlife.
Once you've handled it, cut it, left it out in the open, unrefrigerated, it will not be hygienic or safe for anyone to eat.
Pumpkins are a low-acid vegetable, so once they are cut and left at room temperature, pathogens will rapidly grow on the flesh, producing mould spores.
Our precious wildlife do not have any magical properties that protect them against food poisoning.
Additionally, this time of year there are baby hedgehogs around, born too late to find natural food, desperate to eat anything to stop the pain of starvation.
Pumpkin has a laxative affect so it would be particularly cruel to leave it out for starving wildlife to eat in desperation, causing them to lose precious fluids that may make the difference between life and death.
So no matter what you read elsewhere, please DO NOT put your discarded decoration out for the birds or any other wildlife.
Please DO NOT compost them either, as a composting pumpkin can produce highly toxic tremorgenic mycotoxins, which will be deadly if the compost bin is not properly secured and is accessible to wildlife (or pets).
Many hedgehogs, seeking the warmth of a compost bin, die this way every year.
Once you've used the pumpkin as decoration it's waste, fit only for the bin.
Please help get this vital message spread far and wide, to save precious lives and prevent suffering.

The real horror of Halloween.
Artificial cobweb: a bit of fake fun for you, but a very real and terrifying death for them.
If you see your neighbours using it, it's possible they don't know the danger so please print out this simple leaflet and pop it through their door:
tinyurl.com/HalloweenHedgeho…
The fine, strong synthetic fibres of this lethal 'web' are difficult for animals to see at dusk and can quickly wrap around their legs, wings, and neck, trapping and killing birds, insects and mammals.
When Eden the hedgehog struggled to free herself the web tightened, cutting off circulation and causing deep wounds.
Can you imagine the pain and sheer terror?
And then seeing dawn approach, while hanging there, tightly bound and helpless, only an inch above the ground but suffering slow strangulation.
Aside from being stressed, dehydrated, starving and exhausted, she also had horrific bite/peck wounds to her face, where she had been held there, helpless, unable to curl and defend herself, while a predator tried to eat her alive.
Tragically her constriction injuries were too severe to survive, and poor Eden had to be put to sleep.
If you have used this deadly cruel trap to 'decorate' your garden, I beg you - take it down now.
Please spread this vital information, and help save lives.
ALT Eden, a patient admitted to Hedgehog Cabin, the multi award winning hedgehog hospital.
