It’s not Micheál Martin’s to give away. He knows the people of Ireland value our neutrality. He has no respect for the people of Ireland
Leaders' Questions - Tuesday, 20th October 2026 Without seeking first the permission of the Irish people - the government is pushing through a bill to get rid of the Triple-Lock. Taoiseach, in 2013 you said, the Triple-lock was the 'core of our neutrality' - why now are pushing a bill through to get rid of the Triple-lock -forced through with the guillotine ? It must be put to the Irish people, not you Micheál Martin- @MaryLouMcDonald #Dáil #LQs #TripleLock #Neutrality

I often wonder how my life, the lives of my #LongCovid friends, the lives of #pwLC everywhere, and the health of the world writ large would be today if the people in our lives and beyond had simply believed us. If only they had believed us.

People may not know this, but I started my neurology career at a large practice dedicated to #multiplesclerosis. As a young neurologist at the time, freshly out of my Mayo Clinic neurology training, I quickly realized that a significant subset of patients that I was seeing at that practice did not qualify for the MS diagnosis and instead had other diagnoses that were associated with white matter changes on MRI of the brain and a clinical picture suggestive of MS. Quite a few of those patients (I should've done a study on the prevalence back then! 😀) had small fiber neuropathy, #Dysautonomia and elevated markers of inflammation and/or autoimmunity. ✔️ Misdiagnosis with MS is common ✔️ It doesn't mean that you're healthy or have anxiety, stress or FND if MS is not your diagnosis ✔️ Many patients with misdiagnosed MS have systemic autoimmunity, small fiber neuropathy and #dysautonomia. ✔️ Our recent paper calls for expanding the field of neuroimmunology to include disorders other than MS, which have been traditionally left out of this subspecialty. tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.…
Christina Applegate reveals she was misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis. “This may come as great news, but to me, I’m back at square one. It’s hard to say that [my doctor] came into my room and she said, ‘Congratulations, you don’t have MS'... You don’t get misdiagnosed and then all of the sudden I’m better. I haven’t gotten better … If anything, I’ve gotten worse in some ways. So I’m back at square one, that I don’t know what’s going on with me... there’s a pretty damn high number of misdiagnoses with MS. It’s clear now that they’re finding something different. Something else is going on... It’s this weird feeling because I became this poster child for MS. I had a reason. I had a f*cking reason as to why my day sucked every day. And now I don’t have a reason and it’s very unnerving and it’s really confusing for me.” variety.com/2026/tv/news/chr…

What’s your view of public health and specifically COVID in care homes now @Kit_Yates_Maths? I think it’s mostly being ignored. Virtually no one tests anymore as COVID is treated by the authorities as a cold.
The Covid Inquiry’s Module 6 report is devastating. Its central conclusion: adult social care was treated as “something of an afterthought”, while “protecting the NHS” sometimes came at the expense of people receiving and providing care. 1/10

Imagine treating a patient for severe, life altering consequences of a Covid infection, and telling them it’s no big deal if they get Covid, or making little of them for masking, or telling them Covid is “mild”. The mental gymnastics are astounding.

All sorts of issues with Revolut this morning 😫 But luckily, a very pleasant person online who unbelievably also happens to be a Nigerian prince has so kindly offered to hold all my monies until the situation gets resolved. There is still kindness that exists in this world ☺️❤️

So, we couldn't install ventilation systems in schools, cinemas, office buildings, etc., while they were empty in 2020, but mid- nineteenth-century engineers could raise entire buildings and streets in downtown Chicago, by as much as 14 feet, in response to water-borne illnesses. – at Galway, Ireland

The worsening Ebola outbreak demands urgent, collective action. Kenya has now reported nine confirmed cases, and Nigeria has reported a case. We must come together to support affected countries, protect health workers, strengthen early detection and contact tracing, and ensure timely, high-quality care. Containment depends on community trust, clear communication, and sustained resources. Governments, public health agencies, researchers, funders, and partners all have a role to play. We cannot afford to let attention lag behind transmission. Solidarity must translate into action now.
Nigeria has confirmed one case of Ebola disease in the Federal Capital Territory. The patient, a woman who recently arrived on an international flight from Uganda, had been receiving treatment at a private hospital before the diagnosis was confirmed on Tuesday.

🚨 Russell Brand arrived at court for the second week of his trial. Today, the jury heard from a third witness, who alleged she repeatedly said "no" before an incident in a toilet cubicle. Another significant day of testimony as proceedings continue.

At work, ppl went ooh and aah about somebody breaking their foot. When I inquired about the one out with Long Covid there was some uneasy looking the other way, then saying “that is private”. As if she wasn’t able to handle the pressure and we should not be talking about it. 😖

It’s the 13th wave of Covid right now. The 13th spin of the chamber. Many lives were destroyed from waves 1 to 12, but every wave is an opportunity to join them. The NYT is saying it out loud at last…
