Okay... this is actually a big deal
“the Trump Administration supports the ability of lawful users of digital assets to privately transact on a public blockchain.”
The report also acknowledged that although illicit actors “use mixers to obfuscate and launder funds . . . lawful users of digital assets may leverage mixers to enable financial privacy when transacting through public blockchains.”
FinCEN is withdrawing its finding that international CVC Mixing is a class of transactions of primary laundering concern, and the proposed rule, published on October 23, 2023, seeking to impose special measure one regarding international CVC Mixing.
While FinCEN maintains that illicit actors continue to use mixers and other tools and methods to hinder law enforcement investigations, this withdrawal is informed by the concerns from commentors that the expansive definition of CVC mixing in the proposed rule could have a chilling effect on legitimate activity and place a large reporting burden on covered financial institutions.

When will people learn to stop judging government programs by their stated intent, and start judging based on results and cost?

JULIAN ASSANGE IS FREE
Julian Assange is free. He left Belmarsh maximum security prison on the morning of 24 June, after having spent 1901 days there. He was granted bail by the High Court in London and was released at Stansted airport during the afternoon, where he boarded a plane and departed the UK.
This is the result of a global campaign that spanned grass-roots organisers, press freedom campaigners, legislators and leaders from across the political spectrum, all the way to the United Nations. This created the space for a long period of negotiations with the US Department of Justice, leading to a deal that has not yet been formally finalised. We will provide more information as soon as possible.
After more than five years in a 2x3 metre cell, isolated 23 hours a day, he will soon reunite with his wife Stella Assange, and their children, who have only known their father from behind bars.
WikiLeaks published groundbreaking stories of government corruption and human rights abuses, holding the powerful accountable for their actions. As editor-in-chief, Julian paid severely for these principles, and for the people's right to know.
As he returns to Australia, we thank all who stood by us, fought for us, and remained utterly committed in the fight for his freedom.
Julian's freedom is our freedom.

Happy Halving!
Wishing all my Bitcoin friends happiness and good health this epoch. I hope Bitcoin continues to grow, but most of all, I hope the community around it continues to never compromise on the core values we stand for.

I would rather have questions that can't be answered than answers that can't be questioned.
One of the reasons governments tax us, even though they have the ability to print an unlimited amount of money, is to create an "artificial" demand for their currency.
Simply printing more money does not automatically fund government activities in a sustainable manner, as excessive money printing can lead to inflation, reducing the purchasing power.
This is where taxation plays a crucial role. By imposing taxes, governments create a mandatory demand for their own currency, as taxes are generally required to be paid in the government's fiat currency.
This requirement ensures a consistent demand for the currency, thereby stabilizing its value. If people and businesses need the currency to pay taxes, they are more inclined to accept it in exchange for goods and services, thus integrating it into the broader economy.
Consequently, many become reluctant to use alternative mediums of exchange for their daily expenses and transactions, further increasing the demand for the currency.
Thus, taxation serves not only as a revenue-raising tool but also plays a vital role in maintaining the value and demand for a country's currency. By necessitating the use of their fiat currency for tax payments, governments can strengthen its acceptance and demand, which are essential for the currency's "stability"
