I'm building AfterFirst, an iOS app for couples after the first date.
Date tracking, partner preferences, anniversary countdowns, a journal. Your data stays on your device.
It's in App Store review now. I'll share what I learn building it solo.
anthropic just opened a research preview of claude duet, a standalone app where claude works as a proactive agent.
it brings you what needs your attention, keeps working when you step away, and checks with you before it acts.
would you let an agent watch your inbox all day?
whop just raised $200M at a $5.1B valuation, led by sequoia with shopify backing.
it started as a way to sell sneaker bots, a market the founder figures was maybe $20,000 a day. the bet: 70,000 other tiny markets just like it.
niche doesn't mean small 👀
Whop has raised $200M in Series D funding at a $5.1B valuation, backed by @sequoia and @shopify.
It really feels like we are barely touching the tip of the iceberg in a market larger than anyone can imagine.
We first launched Whop as a better way for us to sell sneaker bots, one of the most niche types of desktop software out there.
Total TAM? Probably $20,000 per day.
Who cares, tiny market.
But, what people discounted is the idea that there were actually 70,000 other markets exactly like that one.
Beyond the investment itself, I am especially excited to welcome legendary silicon valley investor @dougleone to our board of directors. Doug and the sequoia team are nothing but a brilliant, resourceful, and principled group of people.
My co-founder Cameron and I started building on Shopify when we were 13 years old. Shopify is one of the most impactful all-in-one cloud ecosystems ever created; @tobi has pioneered modern entrepreneurship the way we know it and we are thrilled to have him in our corner.
We have a tenet at Whop to be the dumbest in the room and I am very grateful that this has recently become a lot easier.
We are focused on markets, scale economies, and progressive media. If that is up your alley, please message me directly.
The $200M raised will support our expansion as we build economic infrastructure for the next century, continuing on our mission of delivering everyone an income.
PHP shipped security releases today. If you run PHP, make sure you're on at least:
8.5.12
8.4.27
8.3.36
8.2.35
Check with phpinfo() or your host's control panel. Still on 8.1 or older? That branch no longer gets fixes, so plan the upgrade. Source: php.net
php2shell is a good reminder that patching is part of shipping. If you run PHP anywhere, even one forgotten side project, when did you last check your version? Be honest, how many of us have an old server quietly running somewhere?
question for anyone who's shipped an app:
what's something you only learned after launch that you wish you'd known before?
pricing, onboarding, marketing, app review, anything. drop the one lesson you'd hand to someone about to ship their first one.
most indie apps don't die from bad code. they die because nobody knows they exist.
if you spend 90% of your week building and 10% telling people, try flipping it for one week.
what's your split right now?
beacon just launched: a free, open source memory layer for coding agents, backed by a $5.5M seed.
it turns past sessions into reusable skills across claude code, cursor, codex and 20+ other tools, so you stop explaining your repo on every switch.
would you trust shared memory?
We’re betting our $5.5M seed round that the next leap in AI coding won’t come from OpenAI or Anthropic.
It’ll come from a new feedback loop that learns from you.
Introducing Beacon: open-source, self-improving memory for coding agents.
Your sessions capture how you debug and solve problems. Today, that context gets lost and you have to re-explain things every time you switch tools.
Beacon continuously distills your sessions into reusable skills across Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and 20+ harnesses, so your next agent can learn from the last.
Beacon is free and OSS 🌟 github.com/Asymptote-Labs/ag…
Why should the frontier labs be the only ones winning with your sessions?
You already did the work. Now let your coding agents learn from you.
daytona raised a $60M series B at a $1B valuation, led by firstmark, to build the "agent cloud" where ai agents run code.
founders of stripe and shopify joined the round too.
agents need a safe place to actually do the work, and that layer is getting serious money.
We just raised a $60M Series B at a $1B valuation to build @daytonaio into the Agent Cloud.
@FirstMarkCap led the round, with all key existing investors and angels doubling down.
We're also thrilled to welcome the founders of some generational companies aboard, including @patrickc (Stripe), @tobi (Shopify), @AravSrinivas (Perplexity), @BrendanFoody (Mercor), @oliveur (Datadog), @adamdangelo (Quora) and @ericsyuan (Zoom)
We're a 35-person team. But that's about to change; we're hiring across the board, and we'd love for you to join us.
pricing question for afterfirst, the couples app i'm building solo.
went with a free tier plus a 7-day pro trial. a relationship app proves itself over weeks, so charging upfront felt backwards.
the hard part: what stays free?
freemium founders, where did you draw the line?
Streaks in a couples app can't work like streaks in a fitness app.
Missing a workout is on you. Missing a week because life got busy shouldn't make a relationship app feel like it's judging you.
AfterFirst isn't about more time in the app. It's about more time together.
replika's founder just opened wabi to everyone, free on ios, android and mac. it's a group chat where an ai agent plans trips, books things and builds little apps right inside the thread.
consumer ai is going multiplayer. would you add an agent to your family group chat?
Wabi 2.0 is live!
personal agents are one person, one chat. but the parts of life that matter run on more than one person
Wabi is an agent you use together. you talk to it, it does stuff, builds the apps you need, and anyone can join the thread - your partner, your best friend, the preschool moms groupchat
school changes pickup time → Wabi updates the family calendar, everyone sees it.
a show you’d both love → Wabi finds a night that works, gets the tickets.
the trip everyone keeps talking about → Wabi picks the dates, builds the itinerary, books it
go start a thread with your people 👇
greptile raised a $50M series B led by menlo ventures, at a $750M valuation.
they review and test more than 1% of all PRs opened on github every day.
writing code keeps getting cheaper. trusting it enough to merge is where the money's moving
Greptile has raised a $50M Series B led by Menlo Ventures. The round values the company at $750M.
Greptile reviews and tests more than 1% of all PRs opened on GitHub every day. Thousands of engineering teams including Nvidia, Coinbase, Decagon, and Vanta use Greptile as their independent and central validation layer.
Fewer than 50 people, we are a small, talent-dense team of engineers and researchers in a quiet corner of San Francisco. If you’re interested in joining us, we’d love to hear from you.
building afterfirst solo, a couples app where everything people write (date notes, what their partner likes, journal entries) stays on their device.
for privacy it felt like the obvious call. the tradeoff is that stuff like backups and moving to a new phone gets harder to do well.
anyone here shipped a local-first app? how did you handle that part?
Most dating apps are built to get you to a first date. After that, you're on your own.
But the hard part is everything after: remembering what they like, planning the next date, not letting the small stuff slip.
That gap is why I'm building AfterFirst.
anthropic is putting 5% of its shares into a new public benefit fund (pending stockholder approval), and can add 2% for every 50% rise in its value.
with founder and employee pledges, that's about 20% of the company set aside for the public good.
will other startups copy it?
We’re committing a portion of Anthropic’s shares to the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a new wholly owned entity dedicated entirely to the public benefit.
It will start off with 5% of our shares. For every 50% increase in the company’s value over a set baseline, we can contribute up to an extra 2%, subject to our board’s discretion.
In total, this means that roughly 20% of Anthropic’s shares are committed to the public good. Our co-founders have already pledged to donate 80% of their equity, and around half our employees are donating a portion of their equity as part of a donation matching program we’ve run since our founding.
In the post below, we share more details about our new fund.

One pricing decision for AfterFirst: there's a free tier, and Pro comes with a 7-day trial.
A relationship app proves itself over weeks, not in the first five minutes. Asking for money before you've seen that felt backwards.
So the free version has to be worth using on its own.
replit made openai the default model behind replit agent, replacing anthropic's claude. ceo amjad masad cited cost, performance and the partnership. claude is still available if you pick it.
most people never change the default, which is why this one matters so much.
Over the weekend, Masad clarified that OpenAI would replace Anthropic as its default model provider. Claude will still be available to customers on the platform.

A couples app ends up holding some of the most personal things people write down: date notes, what your partner likes, journal entries.
So in AfterFirst, your data stays on your device.
I wouldn't want my own journal on a stranger's server. I won't ask you to put yours there.
elorian just launched glimpse, its first "visual thinking" model. it's built for the stuff models usually miss in images and video, like things that move or change angle, and you can try it now.
if you build with screenshots or screen recordings, worth a test.
