Thank you for being here! It is always fun to talk with you, not only because youโ€™re a great guest, but because we learn so much new stuff about Shakespeare history! I canโ€™t wait to share this with yโ€™all in a few weeks. ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ๐ŸŽง๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŽญ
Had a fabulous time today recording an episode of the fantastic podcast That Shakespeare Life (@ThatShakespeare) with @CassidyCash, about my book, SHAKESPEARE'S BOOK (@WmCollinsBooks & @Pegasus_Books US/Canada). The show will be released soon: watch this space! @ShakesInstitute

Tried to teach my 9 week old puppies to ring a bell to go potty. Gave them hot dogs when they rang the bell. Now they still have accidents in the house but they ring the bell really well anytime they want food. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ On the plus side, I taught my kids about Pavlov.

My 8 year old keeps calling the concession stand โ€œthe confession standโ€ and I canโ€™t correct him because I think itโ€™s so funny.

I ran into one of my former students today. Heโ€™s all graduated from college and working for the Forestry Commission in Montgomery. All grown up and doing great! Makes me so happy! (Nevermind how old I feel right now ๐Ÿ˜‚)

Iโ€™m just now seeing this lovely feedback. Thank you!!
Listening to @CassidyCash vent her spleen about the Shakespeare authorship question on @HistoryRage pod just made my whole historian heart happy today.

I think this means I won? Or maybe that Benedick won, which I like to think heโ€™d properly gloat about. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŽ™๏ธ

It was so much fun to speak to @CassidyCash about the history of Father Christmas/Santa
NEW EPISODE: Father Christmas didn't exist for Shakespeare, but, happily, Sir Christmas did. Explore the history of present giving Christmas legends with our guest, Elizabeth Norton. cassidycash.com/ep244 #ThatShakespeareLife

*phone rings* Me: are you calling me from the kitchen? Husband: Yes. I had a question. Iโ€™m using the home intercom system. Me: Literally no one under 30 will know why thatโ€™s funny. I think we became grandparents with that one joke.

The US is playing England right now and the conflict in my house is just so real. #WorldCup2022 #soccer #MyHusbandIsARef
Really fun thread to watch how museum pieces are kept in good order and preserved for the future.
This poor puppet has frass on her face, and whilst there's no question she's suffered a great indignity (who wants insect excrement on their face!?), frass is a tell-tale sign of pest activity.

None of the women have heads. Or any distinguishing features aside from their plaque. I'd agree that marrying #HenryVIII does a number on your individuality & general sense of self worth, but come now.
One might suggest it is not the most tactful choice to represent historical women as nothing more than bodices and lights, and a historical man as a (literally) rounded human shape with a brainโ€ฆ? Especially given what happened to the heads of 2 of these women only metres away?
I'd say they'd earned it, wouldn't you?
King Henry VIII of England had servants who were called "Grooms of Stool" whose job it was to wipe his bottom after he went to the bathroom. During his reign, he had all of those four such people knighted.
