Sp @rugbyontnt love harping on that the @premrugby is the best league. Round 1 of the @ChampionsCup, 8 teams, 4 at home, 1 win… Yeh @EnglandRugby is just awesome…. Bill Sweeney needs to revaluate his game plan to improve english rugby. Cos the league isnt up to elite standards

🇬🇪 Black Lion are just awful these last 2 years. It seems just can't compete playing only 4 competitive games per year against season long professional opponents. Actually got worse since daftly ditching RESC and then replacing it with nothing.

Current Prem defences are simply shite and it is costing them winnable matches in Champions Cup. Something gone badly wrong in English rugby mindset defensively. Their second and third divisions are all seeing frequent basketball scores too so happening right down their pyramid.

Too many players are saying this about this @englandcricket setup That’s basic media discipline and Key has shown total naivety. If youve had 3 caps sure. But Woakes has held together England bowling and batting for years Personally, ive always been excited when he plays #KeyOut
Rob Key is the worst thing about English Cricket. And that includes the weather.

Another international wanting more competition inside and out of England If England have a poor World Cup, the noise will be deafening !! (Also coming at the same time as rumours in France of an international going to UBB or Pau 👀 3 guesses who ?)
🗣️ Genge: “You’ve obviously proved your worth, right?” England’s football team are benefitting from Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane’s moves abroad – are their rugby counterparts missing a trick by not picking players based overseas? 🔗: telegraph.co.uk/rugby-union/…

When Paul Gascoigne joined ITV for the 2002 World Cup, the idea was to put him alongside some of the people who had known him best in football. Terry Venables and Bobby Robson were there. Des Lynam was presenting. And ITV had paid Gazza £50,000 to make ten appearances during the tournament. It did not take long for them to realise he was going to be slightly different to the rest of the panel. On the opening day, Senegal beat defending champions France 1-0. Lynam turned to Gascoigne afterwards to get his thoughts. “I’ve never even heard of Senegal.” Lynam looked at him. “You’d never heard of Senegal?” “No.” “They’ve been part of Africa for some time.” On another occasion, Gazza got halfway through trying to say the word admiration, could not get it out and eventually gave up. “You know what I f****** mean.” But away from the cameras, there was another problem developing. Gascoigne had been staying at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in London while he worked on the tournament. And over the course of three weeks, the drinks being put on ITV’s account started adding up. By the end of it, his hotel drinks bill was £9,869.62. There was another £281 from the minibar in his room. “The trouble was he was buying £200 bottles of wine.” “And buying for everybody in the bar.” One night, somebody from ITV even got a phone call from a company chief executive who had been drinking there. He wanted them to know Gazza had been brilliant company and had spent the night signing autographs. And for all the problems with the bill, ITV had no complaints about the way he behaved when he was actually working. “He was good as gold around the studios.” He would have a drink in the green room after filming, but not before, and always turned up when he was supposed to. Gascoigne later admitted the bill had got out of hand, although he maintained Ally McCoist and Andy Townsend had helped towards some of it. For ITV, there was probably only one way of looking at it. “He was a generous colleague.” “Just happened to be generous with our money!” #football

Can we take note that London Irish went bust 4 years ago. So in 2 seasons, they had more wins that Newcastle have had in 6…
I found this Prem table — since Quins won the league in 2021 — from Oval Insights very instructive. Of the clubs still in the league only Gloucester and Newcastle have a worse record. As a by the by, hella consistency despite everything from Tigers! @TimesSport @Oval_Insights

No. Prem bosses dont want England to pick overseas players so that each team doesnt lose an England player to a foreign club… Loses them an international and several £100000s…

Something seriously needs to change re European rugby. Too many teams sending B teams to Europe cos they dont think theyll win with the ‘A’s’ Will make teams push to do better domestically too
