These @NYCHA residents have fought to reopen their senior center for 25 years. Today, we're delivering — along with a renovated community center, child care center and modernized apartments for 5,000 residents.
The Edenwald Houses and their powerhouse Tenant Association, led by president Walter McNeill, are finally getting the investment they deserve.
We will continue to fight for the investment that all NYCHA residents need.

Today we joined Edenwald Houses TA president Walter McNeill, @NYCMayor, and leaders from across the Bronx to celebrate the reopening of the senior center (closed for 25 years!), community center and child care center at Edenwald.
These centers are part of the comprehensive renovations at Edenwald enabled by the PACT program, which is delivering building-wide systems upgrades, completely revamped apartments, new outdoor spaces, and more for over 5,000 residents. We'll continue working to deliver these investments with @NYCHA residents across the five boroughs, and we’ll be working to ensure accountability after conversion, too.

NEW: Mayor Mamdani led 100+ NY electeds in urging parking lot owners in all five boroughs to keep ICE off their lots.
"Our neighbors should not live in fear that the parking lot down the block could become a staging ground for an operation that puts their communities at risk," said @NYCMayor.

🔨 BUILD, BABY, BUILD 🏠🔥 -- East New York just got the keys to nearly 400 brand-new, permanently affordable homes, and Brooklyn showed up big for it. Gov. Kathy Hochul @GovKathyHochul and Mayor Zohran Mamdani @NYCMayor cut the ribbon on the Christian Cultural Center’s Innovative Urban Village, a 20-year dream for Rev. A.R. Bernard that’s finally standing tall 🙏🗽
The state put up $190 million, 94 of those apartments go to New Yorkers climbing out of homelessness, and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries @RepJeffries was right there cheering it on 🇺🇸💪 Hochul summed it up in four words: build, baby, build 🔨
Gotham Organization, Monadnock, the Local Development Corporation of East New York, NYS Homes and Community Renewal and NYC HPD all helped make it happen, and this is only phase one 🏗️💯

The federal government tried to turn our public servants into deportation agents and force New York City to carry out ICE’s cruel agenda.
Today, a federal court rejected that effort and upheld our laws.
Every New Yorker deserves to seek help from their city without fear of being targeted for deportation. We will stand by our immigrant neighbors, defend our laws and protect the promise that this city belongs to all of us.

Yesterday I joined faith leaders, congregants, and community organizers from @MetroIAF, whose decades of grassroots organizing have helped make the priorities of working New Yorkers a political reality.
We discussed the progress our administration has made on issues like public safety and homelessness — and how we can deepen our partnership to create lasting change.

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation.
I will not be silenced.

I am angry tonight.
Because today ICE shot a New Yorker. They shot a New Yorker while his five year old child was in the car.
ICE makes this city less safe.
We want them out. Now.
Mamdani: This city wants ICE out. We want ICE out of our city. ICE out of our schools. ICE out of our hospitals, ICE out of our streets. ICE away from our kids. We want that because we want to keep the city safe. We do not need them to do so. All they do is terrorize the city.

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed.
This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities.
Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery.
Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children.
Abolish ICE.

If you’re in a rent-stabilized apartment, any lease renewal starting today must remain at the same rent that it was last year.

For too long, some parts of NYC have created a lot of affordable housing while other neighborhoods have added virtually none. Last November, voters delivered a mandate for change and affordability, creating the new Affordable Housing Fast Track.
In the Fast Track districts - the parts of the city that have added the least affordable housing - a new review process will make it easier to add the affordable housing New Yorkers need. This is a big step forward for a more affordable, integrated city.

Yesterday, we celebrated a milestone for public housing: the first NYCHA development to reach financial closing through the Public Housing Preservation Trust.
Thanks to the Trust, we're able to tap into much more, and more flexible, federal funding to make improvements -- starting with a full $607 million modernization at Nostrand Houses in Brooklyn, and more on the way.
This milestone is a testament to years of work by activists, staff from NYCHA, the Preservation Trust and the City, and most of all, NYCHA residents who have fought to reach this day.
"How few under-market-rate homes and apartments get built in those 12 neighborhoods that made the least-housing list is striking. Just 1% of the city’s affordable housing stock came from those dozen community districts in the five years analyzed by @NYCPlanning."
