If you could play one course for the rest of your life.
Rule… it can't be a top 100 course.
Where would it be?

Scottie used the word "intensity" four times about his own game in his presser today. Then he told a Tiger-Masters story that he's mentioned before.
For whatever reason -- maybe the way he explained it -- it hit me this time just how much of an impact Tiger's maniacal intensity has had on the trajectory of Scottie's own career.

Cool anecdote from Scottie Scheffler today on playing with Tiger for the first time in competition and how that round helped shape his competitive instincts and spirit.

Where would you base a stay for @Ballyliffin @PortsalonGC1891 & @Rosapenna1893 ?
Would Nairn & Portnoo & @CruitGolf be a separate base?

This is exactly what @OleGolfCoach has been doing for decades in his “Playing Lessons” playing a 3 ball self scramble to show them what the player’s potential is. The success rate is amazing as it frees their minds.

Real food outsold ultraprocessed food by 7% in the past year.
This is after 30 uninterrupted years of ultraprocessed food sales growth outpacing real food.
Yogurt sales are up 15% in one year. Frozen vegetable sales are up 10%
Yet they say @SecKennedy is killing people.

In 1702 a farmer wrote to his lawyer in Edinburgh, thanking him for sending up a golf club and some balls.
He admitted that a man with a harvest still standing in the field had no business playing golf.
Then he wrote two words of Latin.
Oportet Vivere.
One must live.

“I can’t even explain the next 6 or 7 minutes of play. We down 25 when it was just at 2. It got bad quick yo…Mike came down ‘ok damn young fella ya’ll done!?”

Today I was coaching an 8-year-old who has just started playing golf. He made a comment that stopped me in my tracks.
He said, “I like to do the hard things first before I do the things that are easier or that I like.”
I asked him what he meant.
He said that if his mom serves him something he doesn’t really like, he eats that first and saves his favorite food for last.
He said that when he practices golf, he works on the parts of his game that aren’t very good before he goes to the things he enjoys.
At eight years old, he already understands something many adults never learn.
Growth comes before gratification.
The people who improve the fastest aren’t the ones who only do what they enjoy. They’re the ones who consistently attack their weaknesses first.
Champions don’t avoid discomfort. They seek it.
If more athletes adopted that mindset, their improvement would accelerate dramatically.
I can’t tell you exactly how good this young man will become.
But I can tell you this:
With a mindset like that at eight years old, he’s giving himself every chance to become something special.

Too close to the green:
I am going to caddy for one of my guys in the Korn Ferry Tour Monday qualifier today.
Here is how we are going to play #13 at Colorado National.
The pin is right over that bunker 3 paces from the edge of the green.
We will be laying back to 100 yards off the tee hitting a 4 iron.
3wood puts us 50 - 70 yards from the green and no chance at getting close to that pin.
With the greens firm and the pin tight we need a full shot coming in there to hold the green and get it close to the pin.
This is something that is often overlooked by amateur golfers, playing the hole backwards to set you up for the shot coming into the green.
That 50-70 yard distance is the toughest distance, especially over bunkers.
Laying back to a 100 yards is a comfortable 60 degree and allows us to be aggressive to this pin.
Eliminating the 50 yard shot was something that Tiger always talked about.
When I talk about ruthless course management for my own game this is a shot that I try and never have.
100 yards is much more comfortable.

“The Greatest Day In Golf”
There is no experience quite like a day at Muirfield. You will spend 12 hours here and yet never want to leave, it all goes far too fast.
Those who opt for the full day get a day like no other. First you get 18 holes on a classic Open Championship test playing your own ball.
Then you don your best suit and enjoy a drink in the lounge, followed by a formal lunch in the dining room. It’s a delicious carvery spread and the food is incredible.
Then you change back into your golf clothes for another 18, playing alternate shot. This is not an option, it’s a tradition as old as time. And it’s incredibly fun and fast, the perfect second 18. Then you can enjoy another round or ten on the deck outside, just reveling in the moment.
The golf itself is incredible, though maybe not as visually arresting as some of the other great links. It’s firm and fast, the land has great movement, the bunkering is devilish and incredible. (Though my friend avoided them for 36 holes, links luck is real.)
The routing is of course a historic one. Rather than a classic links, the holes run on the outside of the land and then on the inside, constantly moving with the wind. It’s totally different from the other historic great links. Quaker Ridge surely was designed by this inspiration.
Muirfield has been known as a stuffy club, only recently allowing women members. But times change fast, it’s now very inviting to all and you are treated great as a guest. You feel very welcome here. (Unaccompanied guests are allowed Tuesdays and Thursdays.)
If you want to book Muirfield, you must plan ahead. Bookings start in the spring of the preceding year and they all sell out quickly. But be sure to check, tee time cancellations happen!
A day at Muirfield is indeed one of the greatest days in golf and in life.
