The Bluesky custom algos are a killer feature. Just mutuals Just photos from follows Popular with friends Followers It's endlessly better than the FYP that shows me a bunch of stuff I don't care about.

What's the point of sticking around here if it artificially limits your reach anyways? There's less and less to lose, with more and more reason to leave.

For real though
Jump in, the water’s warm. Feels like back when Twitter was fun and wholesome.

If the inevitable Wordpress successor isn't called Antimatter then I don't know what we're all doing here

Listened to this earlier and I can't quite find the right words to phrase how I think @statamic should actually be positioned. Something like "the CMS for devs delivering to non devs" or "the CMS for developers building custom CMSes", but... better than those.
This week on MT, @calebporzio pitched @jackmcdade on some ideas for @statamic, including embracing SQLite (and abandoning flat files altogether) and possibly doubling down on Laravel 👀 Agree? Disagree? Let us know ⬇️

I like the Bobiverse books because it fulfills so well the engineering fantasy of "what if I had infinite time, space, and resources to explore every project idea I've ever had?" And with optional, like-minded project partners to boot.

Pretty much this

I love what Val has done with blogstatic! If you're tired of playing algorithm games on social media and you'd rather post directly for your followers, I really recommend making your own blog on it.

I wonder how many elixir devs saw the original HN post and had the exact same thought, like I did.

Pretty much how I feel. Maybe I'm just getting old, but it's harder and harder to see anything that isn't just algorithm bait at this point. Outrage nonsense or ultra cheesy stuff, whatever the algorithms flavor is of the week. I don't go on the For You tab, but everyone else seems to and it shows in the posts I see in my Following tab. You end up being like the people you spend the most time with, even online. I think from a features perspective, bluesky is probably what I want. You can do no algorithm, choose one, or make your own. You can use a domain as a username. Etc. But the last few times I went there, no one I knew was on it, and the people that were there seemed to be almost exclusively posting reddit/hacker news/[insert subculture] style snark. I'm too old to want to be around that kind of stuff, it felt like just a different flavor of what's on here. It's a good time to be less online, but it also kind of sucks to lose some of it too.
I still don’t know how to verbalize my current feeling about Twitter, but it’s something like: I feel like I don’t know how to use this app anymore. I also feel like I don’t belong here anymore 🤷‍♂️ Anyone else?

Every 5 years I learn a new instrument. The key for me is learning the coolest song I can think of for that instrument as the very first thing I do. It's more memorisation than learning really, but it's way more fun to be able to play it while you slog through the basics after.
