The arrival of GPT-6 as a new Artificial Intelligence model that thinks, for part of its reasoning, in something that is not language got people alarmed apparently with good reason and with plenty of facts to back their concerns.
In his article "Align the product, not the process: What Picasso can teach us about GPT-6 Astra, chains of thought, and where alignment should actually live", @CarlosMiranda Levy argues against being alarmed and claims that the chain of thought was never the thought, that we built a safety culture on the machine's incompetence at concealment, and that alignment should live where it always has for every other process we trust: on its product and results.
