This is huge & long overdue. "..gender wage gaps used to be explained in part by education and occupation.... But Prof. Goldin's research shows most of the earnings difference is btw men & women in the same jobs and notably, it kicks in after the birth of a woman’s first child."
BREAKING NEWS The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the 2023 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel to Claudia Goldin “for having advanced our understanding of women’s labour market outcomes.” #NobelPrize

Preach.
Historically, much of the gender gap in earnings could be explained by differences in education and occupational choices. However, this year’s economic sciences laureate Claudia Goldin has shown that the bulk of this earnings difference is now between men and women in the same occupation, and that it largely arises with the birth of the first child. #NobelPrize

£564.. the amount that women take home less per month than men, according to new @fawcettsociety evidence. A shocking figure with a host of distressing, personal stories behind it. The gender pay gap issue is complex, but ensuring mothers get promoted is critical to closing it!
