Cardiff Stop the War was first launched 22 years ago, the week after 9/11. We are the oldest still-active peace group in the capital city of Wales. This is our new account. We look forward to sharing information on local, national and global peace and Palestine issues and actions
Cardiff Stop the War was founded a week after 9/11 in 2001.
From the start, our work was built around 3 pillars: stop war, defend civil liberties, & oppose racism & Islamophobia.
Join the march to defend the right of all communities, here and internationally, to live in safety.
Trade unionism can be about more than wages and working conditions. About building the kind of world we want to live in. Workers have the power to stop the war machine and build a world economy that meets human needs. Peace isn't separate from class struggle. It's part of it.
Tomorrow is the day of my hearing with the GMB
I’m delighted with over 500 signatures from trade union members, especially fellow GMB members. Thank you all
Whatever the outcome is - I will continue to campaign against the drive to war 🕊️

250,000 marched in London for Palestine yesterday. Part of protests across 60 countries on six continents for the protection & liberation of the Palestinian people. Over 3 years, our movement has survived repression, smears and attempts to demobilise us

GLOBAL DAY OF ACTION
Demand an international arms embargo, comprehensive sanctions & the international isolation of Israel. End military & political support for genocide. Stand with the Palestinian people. No arms. No trade. No complicity

Pete picks up litter in his local area in Cardiff and since 2023, has always done so whilst wearing a Palestinian flag.

"Our new First Minister has rightly labelled Israel's onslaught in Gaza a genocide. Plaid must now show the same leadership by tabling a vote in the Senedd, our Welsh Parliament, on ending all economic, trade, diplomatic and cultural dealings with Israel."

As Israel's ongoing genocide shortly enters its third year, we marched through the capital of Wales with a clear demand: end UK arms sales to Israel, impose sanctions, stop enabling Israel's crimes, free Palestine.

Stand with the young militant being victimised by his union for questioning its leadership's support for more arms spending. What kind of trade unionism disciplines a worker for believing that society's resources should build homes, hospitals and a future, not weapons of war?
I am a young trade unionist in the GMB currently under threat of expulsion from my union
My crime ?

"Aneurin Bevan was no pacifist, but as the Cold War began, he fought for ‘welfare, not warfare’, challenging the diversion of public money from the new welfare state into the arms race."
Campaigners have expressed their anger at plans to build an explosives factory close to the moorland site where NHS founder Aneurin Bevan’s ashes were scattered after his death in 1960✍️ @ShiptonMartin wp.me/p8Mk4U-1ueG

On International Weekend Against Militarisation, people from across Wales will protest at Europe's biggest area of airspace set aside for drone testing, covering 2,500 square miles over land & sea. Why use our land, skills and public money for war rather than human needs?
@STWuk
The Valleys have memory of people standing together in pits, chapels, unions, co-operatives & communities, & traditions of peace & internationalism. We need to organise around what communities actually need, and challenge the priorities being imposed by arms dealers & politicians

Three years of relentless protest and Britain has finally been forced to act against illegal Israeli settlement goods. Now we turn up the pressure. No more British arms to Israel. Sanctions now. Isolate this genocidal state just as the world isolated apartheid South Africa.
Welfare, not warfare. Green jobs, not arms jobs. Public investment, not military escalation. And workers and communities, not corporations and billionaires, deciding what our skilled workers, factories and resources are used to produce. #CardiffTransformed2026

German youth out in the streets again, waving their middle fingers at return to compulsory military service & politicians shovelling more cash into the military budget. Somewhere, no doubt, a general is demanding more discipline. The kids have other plans
