Brandon Valley Senior Austin Dowd is this week’s South Dakota Riddell Player of the Week for 11-Man Football “Austin makes incredible contributions in every way and is constantly helping our younger linemen. He is a physical presence, but what truly stands out is his character and toughness. He has blocked more and harder than just about any tight end around, yet he never complains or asks for more opportunities in the passing game. He even stepped in to play guard as a sophomore during the Dome game when we had an injury, without a single complaint. Austin isn’t just committed to our team culture, he is the culture. He sets the standard we want our program to embody and leads by example every day. He takes pride in attending JV games to support our younger players and has earned his role as a captain and homecoming candidate for all the right reasons. Most importantly, Austin is incredibly humble and consistently treats everyone in our school with respect and dignity. Austin's effort last week led to 8 pancake blocks (30 on the season), 3 receptions, 63 receiving yards and 1 TD.” -Matt Christensen Brandon Valley HC Honorable Mentions: Keyvin Strand (Canton), Mitch Grant (Tea Area), Aiden Hammitt (Elk Point Jefferson) @AustinDowd_20 @bvhsfootball @RiddellSports @domehats @sdfbca
