New blog! At Carbon Rewild, we’re focussed on making biodiversity measurement robust and accessible. Just as we trust everyday measurements, from fuel pumps to weighing scales, it's crucial to build that same trust in biodiversity metrics.

As winter approaches, many of the UK’s farmland bird species face tough conditions. Species like the yellowhammer, skylark, corn bunting, and lapwing rely heavily on the farmland landscape for food and shelter.
Did you know we typically observe up to a 40% difference in the species identified during spring and summer compared to winter? It is vital monitoring takes place across multiple seasons to ensure we understand our seasonal variations and support wildlife throughout the year

Carbon Rewild is coming to Groundswell Festival 2024!
This is our first year attending Groundswell, and we can't wait! Whether you own or manage land, and are interested in practical methods to measure biodiversity, come over and say hello to the Carbon Rewild team at our stand.
Bats can be like ecology broadcasters - their presence and activity can tell us much more about the land and the wider food web. From small insects to large beetles, there's plenty to uncover from monitoring their presence and activity

We loved being out on site with @carbonrewild setting up five bioacoustic sensors to survey for mammals and birds. This is our second round of surveys at Tolworth Court Farm Fields and we are excited to see what turns up! @RBKingston @communitybrain
🌅 Celebrate National Dawn Chorus Day! 🐦🎶
Join us on May 5th for one of the UK's most enchanting natural spectacles, the Dawn Chorus! Whether you're at home or in the heart of a woodland, National Dawn Chorus Day is your chance to experience nature's amazing symphony
🌍 Happy Earth Day 2024! Today, we celebrate our planet and the strides we're making together in preserving its precious resources, climate and biodiversity.
Spring is here! Over the next few months, we expect to capture 2.5 million+ minutes of audio data, giving conservation organisations, businesses, landowners and farmers the insights to protect key species and boost biodiversity in their land.
Nature Positive + Data = Impact!
Happy World Rewilding day! Rewilding involves the extensive restoration of ecosystems to a state where they can become self-sustaining again. It aims to bring back natural processes and, when suitable and timely, reintroduce species that have disappeared.

As we head into Spring, there's plenty of birdsong soon to be enjoyed. Here's a few short clips from spring surveys last year.

Whilst spring can be the most popular season to survey wildlife, it's only capturing part of the full picture. In locations where we have conducted surveys both in breeding seasons and winter, 20 - 40% of all identified species have been exclusively recorded during winter.
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our Bioacoustic Monitoring Service specifically tailored for small mammals in the UK. Bioacoustic monitoring offers a window into the lives of these vital yet often overlooked members of our ecosystems.

Many small mammal species are difficult to detect, as they are small, often avoid humans, and many are nocturnal. But did you know many voles, shrews, mice and other small mammals have recognisable sounds that can help with their identification?
More news coming soon!
Did you know? on cold nights, birds will lower their own body temperature to conserve energy, but still need some help when food is scarce. Some small bird species can lose 5 - 10% of their body weight within a single night.
