Until you get an EV with an app that tracks every stat and what each trip cost plus the gas equivalent, I don't think most people really realize just what each trip in their gas car was really costing them.

Often forgotten in the "payoff mortgage" vs "invest" discussion: you need a sizeable pension pot to fund mortgage payments into retirement, and those payments increase the required pension withdrawals which are taxable. So yes, you built a bigger pot - only to pay more in taxes!

Western separation means the CPC will forever be a 3rd place party.
The conservative campaign against separation is the most stark example possible of how politicians will put their individual prosperity ahead of the prosperity of their citizens.
Years of damaging federal policies have understandably exhausted Albertans.
I don’t believe Alberta should abandon Canada, the answer isn’t separation, it’s changing the government in Ottawa.

This is a message to Mark Carney.
I hope this message finds you.
I would normally say, I hope this message finds you well, but seeing that most Canadians are not doing well, I would hate to point out that you are doing very well.
Mark, you were selected to be the voice for the Canadian people.
You see, you are nothing but a public servant. We tell you what we want, we pay you a salary to do what we ask of you, and that is it.
When you get in front of us on camera, it should be to tell us what you have done for Canada and then you should answer all questions from us, your employers.
We didn't hire you to censor us, we didn't hire you to control us, we didn't hire you to steal from us and we didn't hire you to hide things from us.
You accepted the position with a base salary.
We never said we were going to pay $900,000.00 for in-flight meals, we never said that our money was yours for the taking.
We didn't hire you to do anything that you have been doing for your blind trusts and your buddies.
You got the position because you promised that you were the man to deal with Trump.
Not one Canadian said that we wanted to be partnered with China, or be a part of the EU or be a part of your Agenda 2030 experiment.
We hired you for one thing.
You have failed the only thing that we hired you to do. You should be fired.
I know that I speak for most of my fellow Canadians when I say that we want our money back.
We want to keep our freedoms, and, well, really, all we want is for the position that you have failed in to be replaced by someone that can actually do the job.
You do not deserve a pension, you have failed our country, and you belong behind bars.
You haven't been in this country long enough to understand who Canadians are.
We are fighters, we are free thinkers, we are not controllable, and we certainly aren't push overs.
We are persistent, and we don't give up until justice is served.
Perhaps you should have paid attention to who we are as Canadians before trying to pull your crap here.

The Alberta Transition Plan is now complete and available on the Alberta Transition Council website.
Its purpose is not to argue every political question about independence, design Alberta’s permanent constitution, or pretend that every future negotiation can be predicted in advance.
It answers a more practical question:
If Albertans ultimately decide to become an independent country, how do we get from here to there in a lawful, orderly and workable way?
The Plan maps that pathway in detail—laws, courts, banking, pensions, taxation, trade, borders, transportation, policing, health care, First Nations and treaty relations, international agreements, government administration and the other functions that have to continue through a transition.
One of its most important findings is that Alberta would not be starting from scratch. The institutions, people, infrastructure, businesses and public services that Albertans rely upon already exist. The task is largely to preserve what works, transfer or replace federal responsibilities where necessary, negotiate the relationships that cross borders, and build the limited sovereign functions Alberta does not presently need as a province.
In other words, the primary change is to the constitutional order and the governmental relationship between Alberta and Canada—not to ordinary life.
The objective is deliberately unremarkable:
Government continues. Courts remain open. Pensions and benefits are paid. Banks operate. Businesses continue. Goods and people move. Essential services remain available.
Ordinary life continues—but Alberta becomes responsible for its own future, under a government elected by Albertans and possessing the full constitutional authority of an independent country over its laws, finances, institutions and national decisions.
Fair warning: it is a detailed, technical and occasionally boring read. That is probably a good thing. It is a transition plan, not a mystery novel.
But for anyone who has seriously wondered “How would this actually work?”—the Plan is intended to provide the answer.
