I chose my Hermes pet as Friday, then made it escape the UI and its now running on my @opengotchi lol But the real thesis is bigger: OpenGotchi could be a tiny physical I/O layer for Hermes. Hermes → Gotchi: status, cron alerts, generated apps, memory-backed moods Gotchi → Hermes: buttons, gestures, quick skill triggers, voice commands Agents need bodies. Not humanoids, useful little programmable companions.

Snap just introduced @specs, its new standalone AR glasses 👓 They feature a 51° field of view, 16 million colors, hand tracking with just 7ms motion-to-photon latency, and two Snapdragon processors. No external puck or wired connection is required. SPECS can display virtual workspaces, navigation, entertainment and shared AR experiences, while the built-in AI can see what you see and provide contextual assistance. Battery life is up to 4 hours, with the charging case extending it to 20 hours. Pre-orders are now open for $2,195, with shipping expected this fall in the US, UK, and France. This is probably the closest we’ve seen to a real standalone AR computer in a glasses form factor. The price will definitely be a major barrier, but this is super exciting nonetheless 👏

My Codex goblin /pet now lives on my @OpenGotchi too. I told Codex: take the same pet from my desktop, put it on the Gotchi, and get him a new home It pulled the Goblin’s actual sprite frames from Codex, compressed them into a tiny MicroPython renderer, deployed that to the Gotchi, and mapped the device gyro to the same expression states: idle, blink, wave, pout and whatever So when the desktop pet changes mood, the Gotchi has the same visual language. Doing something like this over an ESP-32 could take you more than a day and a year ago, so so easier with what LLMs have got us to. I also told CODex to write this tweet for me lol.
