Please check LPa on all aortic stenosis patients.
Lipoprotein(a) is one of the strongest risk factors for aortic stenosis.
Results of our new meta-analysis, just out in @JAMACardio, reveal that Lp(a) is also strongly associated with aortic stenosis *progression*!
Thanks to everyone who contributed.

See our recent paper on the aortic valve phenotype in patients with FLNA variants.
Mutated patients present frequent aortic valve disease and worse outcomes, and a higher prevalence of bicuspid aortic valve.

Presented today at #TCT2023:
Among patients at low surgical risk who underwent TAVR or surgery, there was no apparent difference between groups in the composite end point of death, stroke, or rehospitalization at 5 years.

EVOLUT LOW RISK TRIAL 4-Yr Results:
🎯 TAVR patients maintain durable outcomes & better hemodynamics than SAVR over 4 years.
🎯 26% reduced hazard for death or disabling stroke in Evolut TAVR vs SAVR, with diverging curves.
🎯 Lower mean gradients & higher EAs with Evolut TAVR at all check-ins.
🎯 85% of TAVR patients had minimal PVR; no significant group difference for moderate or greater PVR.
🎯 Valve performance indicators like high gradients & severe PPM favored TAVR, with similar thrombosis rates.
