What's so cool about manufacturing?
Students at 10 area middle schools are finding out, and producing videos highlighting 10 local manufacturers' facilities, thanks to What's So Cool About Manufacturing Capital Region: ceg.org/articles/ceg-launche…
“It’s one thing to tell students about opportunities in manufacturing, but when they get a close-up look at the production process – and the chance to film it – two things happen. One is they think, ‘That’s so cool’; and the other is they say, ‘I want in,’” said Don Wiesenforth, @CEG_NY Senior Vice President and Director of Manufacturing Solutions, the Capital Region Manufacturing Extension Partnership center.

It was great to visit the New York State Museum this morning to highlight the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). This program helps youth acquire new skills, gain experience in a workplace environment, and allow an easier transition from the classroom to the workplace. I thank Commissioner Barbara Guinn, Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan, and the Capital Region Workforce Development Board for their partnership on this initiative. I look forward to seeing the continued growth of this program in the years to come.
