Chang was unanimously appointed to the board by the Mayors of CapMetro’s suburban member cities. He also serves as the Council Liaison to the Economic Development Committee and represents the City of Leander on the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG). CapMetro August 2026 Service Change updates to Route 2 🚍 We are extending Route 2 along Springdale Rd between Oak Springs Rd and 7th St, filling a gap in service. This will make it easier to travel between East Austin neighborhoods, Eastside Bus Plaza and Downtown without extra transfers. It will also create more consistent, two-way service along the route. Bikeshare Update - CapMetro Bikeshare will return in phases beginning August 11, 2026, with nearly one-third of the fleet available for riding by August 18. -The service was suspended in late May 2026 after a fire at the agency’s operations facility damaged the system’s charging infrastructure. -This limited service will prioritize areas with the highest customer demand, including the University of Texas campus. -Customers are encouraged to check the CapMetro Bikeshare app to see real-time availability before heading to a station.

It was great to be with @CapMetroATX to celebrate the full launch of the Rapid 800 and 837 routes and the opening of the Goodnight Ranch Park & Ride in #HD51. My favorite part was hearing from constituents who use the Rapid lines to connect themselves to their jobs and families.

Celebrating the opening of the Expo Center and Goodnight Ranch Park & Rides this morning with a packed house. This investment is a part of the Project Connect System plan, and we’re proud to better connect the region we serve.

We're preserving history while investing in our future. CapMetro has begun reassembling a more than 100-year-old historic bridge from our track over Walnut Creek to Springdale and Bolm Rd. This allows us to preserve the bridge and complete essential track work while improving visibility for our customers and the community. The relocation is funded by a Federal Railroad Administration CRISI grant and won't affect CapMetro service or future Mokan Trail plans.
