People make the mistake in analogizing Ethereum to operating systems. Instead, it should be analogized to protocols, like TCP/IP.

Wait. Veradermics spent years and hundreds of millions to get a smoother-release oral minoxidil to patients. @anagenxyz built one for a few thousand dollars, tested it themselves, and it’s already shipping. And they're the ones getting cease & desists? xitter.cf/anagenxyz/status/21089…
JUST IN: Veradermics announces its experimental hair-loss pill significantly increased hair growth in over 500 men, with no serious side effects reported in a late-stage study.

⚠️ Alarming: Veradermics ($MANE) has sent a Cease & Desist to another one of our pharmacy partners. They’ve now contacted several of our pharmacies and our doctor network. Why doesn’t a big pharma want you to have access to MINX? Their lead drug candidate, VDPHL01, is an extended release minoxidil tablet. The company, Veradermics Incorporated, seems to view MINX as a competing product. Find the full video on our YouTube channel to learn more about what makes MINX different. MINX will continue shipping.

This diazoxide thread is one of the most idiotic critiques I've ever seen. Even though it is obviously a bad faith attack on a competitor, I have debunked every point he made in this article: xitter.cf/hairypapasmurf/status/…

First Diazoxide shipments are leaving the pharmacy today. Mine should be included. Will be applying with @VerbinnenAndrew @zach_schrier and drawing blood to see how much goes systemic 🩸 Stay tuned.

🚨 A few things to note about Anagen's topical diazoxide 1. Any claims about past human performance are likely false. We're the first to do this at scale. Several other compounding pharmacies offer this medication, but almost nobody uses it because it's "lazily" solubilized. It uses an extremely high percentage of DMSO. DMSO is extremely irritating at high concentrations and serves as a powerful penetration enhancer (bad if you're trying to avoid systemic effects). 2. The Anagen lab team worked for months and tested 70+ different vehicles to find our final formulation. Our goal was to dissolve the highest % of the drug possible while remaining non-irritating. We found it non-irritating and hope you will too. Our formulation is first in class in this respect. 3. We're very transparent that we haven't yet collected blood data for this product. We hope that will change this week. It will be public the moment we get the results. 4. It's easy/convenient to ignore the model we put up on the site (scroll down on the Diazoxide product page). TL;DR, even if *10%* of the applied diazoxide went straight into your blood (this would be astronomically high), you're 18x below what is seen at the 10,000 ng/mL threshold that typical oral doses of diazoxide reach. This is a MODELED estimate that we released ahead of testing Diazoxide on our own heads. It's not predictive of individual response. But this could be a very different beast (in a good way) than oral diazoxide or topical diazoxide with very high concentrations of penetration enhancers. 5. We lead with "built for Minoxidil non-responders". We made diazoxide for the many patients we see who are frustrated with underwhelming results on Minoxidil. Your genes dictate your SULT1A1 activity. We think MINX could be the best drug in the world to solve this problem. We're *also* releasing our diazoxide to attack this same sult1a1/activation problem from another angle. It's best for: - Minoxidil non-responders (insufficient SULT1A1 activity, affects many) - People who respond to Minoxidil but are looking to maximize the hair growth effects associated with SUR2B/Kir6.1 opening (how minoxidil works). 6. Diazoxide does NOT require sulfation for activation. This is complete nonsense. It's sulfate-conjugated metabolites are inactive and do not contribute to its pharmacological effects. They're relevant to clearance of the drug. SUR subunits (the stuff that grows hair!) is activated directly.

MINX may allow more time for SULT1A1 to go to work. If SULT1A1 is under expressed, topical diazoxide is an option worth further research.
Minoxidil does nothing until an enzyme in your scalp switches it on. At four months on MINX, 74% of patients who checked in report fuller hair. Every MINX patient is asked to check in at day 30, 60 and 120, and each check-in unlocks a mystery box of rewards. 116 check-ins so far. We'll keep sharing what they say, good or bad. Our smooth release design seeks to give SULT1A1 more time to convert minoxidil into minoxidil sulfate.

If I had to bet, I would that MINX outperforms regular oral minoxidil in efficacy and safety reports. Credit to @hairypapasmurf @jeffcafe_ and more from our community, who taught us the science.

the thesis behind diazoxide: > the hair follicle has two kinds of K-ATP channel. one is built on SUR2B and sits in the dermal papilla and the sheath around the bulb. the other is built on SUR1 and sits in the hair matrix, the cells that build the hair shaft (Shorter 2008). > minoxidil opens the SUR2B channel only. > diazoxide opens both. > minoxidil also has to be converted by a follicle enzyme, SULT1A1, before it can open anything. > diazoxide does not. so diazoxide could work if either: 1) opening SUR1 in the matrix grows hair, which it did in deer follicles but has never been tested in humans, or 2) your follicle is not converting enough minoxidil to open SUR2B properly. given how many people respond poorly to minoxidil, topical diazoxide may be able to help a lot of them. this is the first topical diazoxide anyone can actually get, and no human trial exists, so there are real unknowns. the biggest one to me is how much reaches the base of the follicle. it has to clear the level that grows hair while the amount reaching your blood stays below the level that moves blood sugar. i'll post LC-MS data from my own blood after applying it, this week or next depending on when the nurse is free. our models are bullish. but you always have to verify in vivo.
