A strong bond with Oakland head coach Greg Kampe and an unrelenting passion for basketball helped Cam Thompson make a difficult decision this past week. mlive.com/highschoolsports/2… @CamFallThompson @KampeOU @OaklandMBB @csub12

Looks like the investment paid off in the long term. Per @ScottDeCamp, the 6-5 Thompson, who redshirted for Western Michigan football this past fall, is transferring to Oakland.

@CamFallThompson gave everything he’s got. He’s a phenomenal athlete but more importantly, he’s an incredible person. He treats people right. That’s why this community loves him because he’s just a good person on top of being the best basketball player this school has ever had.

It is an absolute joke that Carson Vis (South Christian), Camden Thompson (Whitehall) and Brady Swartz (Northview) are not finalists for the 2025 Michigan's Mr. Basketball Award.

In a real rarity, Whitehall senior Camden Thompson had his basketball jersey retired while his playing career is still going. That moment just took place here at Whitehall before the game vs. Manistee. He is Whitehall’s all-time leader in virtually every statistical category, including more than 1,700 points and well over 1,000 rebounds. An all-time great for Whitehall and among the best in area history. @CamFallThompson @whitehallhoops

Whitehall has announced that @CamFallThompson will have his jersey #23 retired by the school prior to the Feb. 11 game against Manistee.
In my 12-plus years here I cannot remember a player having their jersey retired. Huge honor.

He passes Dawn (Baker) Monette (1997 alumna), who had 1,673 career points. @CamFallThompson @whitehallhoops
