馃敩馃┖POSTN expression is increased before and/or after treatment in non-responsive #FOLFOX treated #CRC patients. Therefore POSTN could be used as biomarker of resistance to #oxaliplatin in #colorectalcancer.

馃ИIn particular, we found that POSTN isoform 4 (POSTNi4) is the splicing variant most upregulated after treatment. In vivo, #CRC tumors engineered to enhance secretion of POSTNi4 turned resistant to treatment with #oxaliplatin.

馃彥馃┖Remarkably, our team discovered in a #colorectalcancer patient cohort that POSTN is enriched in CMS4 tumors and its presence in the stroma associates with decreased disease-free survival.

馃К馃КPlatinum uptake induces a pro-tumorigenic genetic program (aFIB-RS) in CAFs through the autocrine activation of #TGFbeta pathway. Interestingly, aFIB-RS is enriched in #CRC patients that do not respond and relapse after adjuvant platinum-based #chemotherapy.

馃敩Using a technique for metals detection in geological samples (LA-ICPMS), we realized that CAFs in tumors from #colorectalcancer (CRC) patients retain a substantial amount of platinum for more than 2 years after #chemotherapy.
