1/3 The ed prof arguing declining math scores might be good isn’t an isolated problem. Here’s a clip from my conversation w/ Sarah Powell responding to an NCSM statement suggesting education shouldn’t focus so much on efficacy--whether something works!! Full episode belowā¬‡ļø

How does 'defronting' the classroom 'rebuild student trust'? Do students not trust teachers who stand in front of them?

Do parents know that this is the nonsense that teachers are being fed at teachers’ conferences? There is absolutely no way any district should be spending money on programs that promote such obvious snake oil. Great way to ensure kids DON’T succeed in math. ā¬‡ļø

Today, 35 preservice teachers in the B.Ed program @TrentUSoE looked at the @ONeducation Language curriculum document and curriculum expectations for vocabulary and morphology and quickly realized it’s hard to teach what you don’t know! To prepare these preservice teachers for the classroom, we looked at the curriculum expectations, learned about free and bound bases, and how affixes can change meaning of words! Students then explored ā€œmorpheme matricesā€ to create new words & defined them in kid-friendly Langauge. It was fun, fast, and a fantastic learning experience for everyone!! #Morphology #MorphemeMagic @TrentUniversity

There was a question on another platform today about research related to minutes of instruction and age of students. (I hear a lot of misconceptions about this.) Please see reply from @HollyLanePhD ā¬‡ļø
