#TaxTwitter - are you taking the qualified OT deduction on Ag Workers? It appears to me that Ag Workers are exempt from FLSA and as such they wouldn't qualify for the OT deduction. Difference would be crop production vs. custom farming. - Custom farming appears to not be exempt from FLSA and as such would be qualified for OT deduction - Crop production appears to be exempt from FLSA and as such would not be qualified for OT deduction

Goodbye Grandma! I’ll see you on the other side of the pearly gates of splendor someday soon to bask in the glories of the presence of Jesus where we will worship him forever and praise him with perfect singing. I won’t forget your love and care for me. You taught me how to ice skate. You & Grandpa took my cousin & I to Yosemite for a special week when we were younger and taught me a love for nature through God’s creation. You were always a special grandma who never complained even though you had to endure many years of cancer and exemplified joy in the midst of suffering. You & Grandpa taught me a love for God’s Word. I will miss you but will rejoice that you are in the presence of Jesus forevermore.

Merry Christmas! Come, thou long expected Jesus, born to set thy people free; from our fears and sins release us, let us find our rest in thee. Israel’s strength and consolation, hope of all the earth thou art; dear desire of every nation, joy of every longing heart. Born thy people to deliver, born a child and yet a King, born to reign in us forever, now thy gracious kingdom bring. By thine own eternal spirit rule in all our hearts alone; by thine all sufficient merit, raise us to thy glorious throne. Wesley begins with an invitation to come. Who is being invited to come? None other than the one that was prophesied back in Genesis 3:16, the one who has been long-expected, the one who the prophets like Isaiah, Micah, Jeremiah, and Zechariah foretold would come, born of a virgin, born in Bethlehem, and born into the lineage of David. Why was He born? Jesus came to set his people free. We read of this promise in Genesis 12, where God promised Abraham that he would bless him and that in his seed all families (or people groups) of the earth would be blessed. Why did we need to be set free? Because our fears and our sins have held us captive, and there is no rest for the wicked. We see in Revelation 5 that only the Lion of the tribe of Judah has the credentials to open the scroll and its seven seals and our song will be that He is worthy to take the scroll because He was slain and by His blood He has ransomed us from every tribe and language and people and nation and has made us a kingdom and priests to our God... If you’d like the rest of my annual Christmas letter send me a DM with your address and I’ll drop one in the mail to you.

One of the most powerful words ever spoken... "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34) @MrsErikaKirk just publicly forgave the man who took her husband's life. I don't know of anything more powerful than this.

Father, be a refuge and strength, a very present help in the trouble that the Kirk family is experiencing right now.
Psalm 46:1 - God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

If I could teach every business owner ONE thing about taxes—it would be this: Tax strategy is about more than saving money—it’s about preparing for legacy. We’re not just talking about reducing this year’s balance due. We’re talking about: ✔ Structuring inheritances wisely ✔ Planning charitable giving with intentionality ✔ Reducing the burden on the next generation ✔ Aligning your wealth with your values Your tax plan can be a tool for temporary savings—or a blueprint for long-term significance. Plan with the end in mind. #LegacyStewardship #FaithAndFinance #EternalImpact #GenerationalWisdom

If I could teach every business owner ONE thing about taxes—it would be this: Planning ahead doesn’t just help you save—it helps you give. I’ve seen too many owners want to be generous—but cash flow, tax surprises, or poor planning hold them back. But when you: ✔ Project income ✔ Set aside giving funds intentionally ✔ Reduce taxes strategically ...you create margin to bless others on purpose, not just when “there’s extra.” Good planning fuels generosity. #PlanToGive #FaithDrivenFinance #TaxStewardship #GenerousBusiness

If I could teach every business owner ONE thing about taxes—it would be this: Your tax return reflects your stewardship. It shows what came in, what went out, and how you managed what God entrusted to you. ✔ Were you intentional with your income? ✔ Did you give, save, and spend in line with your values? Numbers tell a story. The tax return is one chapter. Faithful stewardship is the whole book. “It is required of stewards that they be found faithful.” (1 Cor. 4:2) #FaithAndFinance #ChristianBusiness #StewardshipInAction #TaxAndTestimony

If I could teach every business owner ONE thing about taxes—it would be this: Vague numbers lead to vague decisions. If your response to “What do you expect to make this year?” is “I have no idea”—you’re not ready for strategy. You don’t need to know the future perfectly. But you do need to: ✔ Project revenue ✔ Understand seasonal cash flow ✔ Track expenses regularly ✔ Spot margin trends Tax planning without profit visibility is just guesswork. Clarity creates confidence—and better choices. #ProfitPlanning #TaxForecasting #SmallBusinessClarity #KnowYourNumbers

If I could teach every business owner ONE thing about taxes—it would be this: The best entity for you today might not be the best one 3 years from now. I’ve seen it happen too often: ❌ Sole prop owners miss key deductions ❌ S-Corp owners stop paying themselves properly ❌ Partnerships get stuck with uneven tax burdens As your income grows, team expands, or exit approaches—your entity structure needs to adapt. Revisit it regularly. Realign it with your goals. Refactor when needed. Tax efficiency isn’t set in stone—it’s a living part of your strategy. #EntitySelection #BusinessStructure #TaxPlanning #StrategicGrowth

If I could teach every business owner ONE thing about taxes—it would be this: If your tax pro never asks about your goals, they’re not doing tax planning—they’re just doing tax prep. Tax planning is about: ✔ Timing ✔ Strategy ✔ Intentional decisions But that only works if someone is asking: ✔ Are you planning to hire? ✔ Any big purchases coming? ✔ Want to increase giving? ✔ Changing entity type or income structure? If you’re only dropping off your files and waiting for a refund—or a surprise bill—there’s a better way. Ask questions. Expect answers. That’s where real value begins. #TaxPlanning #StrategicAdvisory #ProactiveAccounting

If I could teach every business owner ONE thing about taxes—it would be this: The number on your P&L isn’t the same as your taxable income. Just because QuickBooks says you made $100k doesn’t mean that’s your final number. Taxable income considers: ✔ Depreciation ✔ Owner wages ✔ Adjustments for meals, mileage, or home office ✔ Non-deductible expenses The P&L is the starting point—not the whole story. If you’re making decisions off unadjusted numbers, you might be overpaying—or underplanning. Let’s make sure your tax reality matches your business reality. #ProfitVsTaxableIncome #TaxEducation #SmallBusinessTaxes

If I could teach every business owner ONE thing about taxes—it would be this: Your tax plan can help you build a legacy—not just reduce a liability. Yes, we want to minimize what you owe. But what about: ✔ Funding future generosity? ✔ Passing down a business wisely? ✔ Structuring family gifts the right way? ✔ Avoiding probate or tax penalties? The best tax planning doesn’t just save money. It multiplies your ability to give, lead, and leave something meaningful behind. #LegacyPlanning #FaithBasedFinance #GenerationalStewardship #TaxWisdom

If I could teach every business owner ONE thing about taxes—it would be this: Great tax outcomes are built over 12 months—not crammed into 12 days. Tax planning isn’t a one-time meeting. It’s a process that tracks: ✔ Profit trends ✔ Seasonal fluctuations ✔ Upcoming changes in structure, hiring, or investing Too often, we meet owners in March who say, “If only I had known this last fall…” You don’t just need a tax preparer. You need a tax strategist. #YearRoundPlanning #ProactiveTax #BusinessTaxTips #StrategicFinance

If I could teach every business owner ONE thing about taxes—it would be this: Your tax return is only as good as your bookkeeping. No matter how great your tax advisor is—if your books are messy, incomplete, or months behind, you’re making decisions based on guesswork. Great books allow for: ✔ Accurate tax projections ✔ Timely decisions ✔ Full capture of eligible deductions The cleaner the data, the better the strategy. Tax planning starts with good books. #BookkeepingMatters #TaxStrategyStartsHere #SmallBusinessFinance

If I could teach every business owner ONE thing about taxes—it would be this: Depreciation isn’t just a paper loss—it’s a powerful planning tool. Many owners think depreciation is something their CPA “handles behind the scenes.” But done well, it can: ✅ Lower your taxable income ✅ Free up cash flow ✅ Time deductions with business growth Bonus depreciation, Section 179, safe harbor elections—it’s all strategy. Depreciation is one of the most flexible tools in the tax code. Use it on purpose. #DepreciationStrategy #TaxPlanning #FixedAssets #SmallBusinessTaxes

If I could teach every business owner ONE thing about taxes—it would be this: Don’t assume you’re too small to be audited. Audits aren’t just for billion-dollar companies. The IRS uses algorithms to flag: ✔ High write-offs relative to income ✔ Inconsistent 1099/W-2 reporting ✔ Missing income from 1099-Ks or 1099-NECs Even a “routine” audit can be costly in time, stress, and back taxes. That’s why we help our clients: ✅ Keep clean records ✅ Avoid red flags ✅ Document decisions Your best audit defense? Clean books and intentional choices. #AuditProof #TaxPreparedness #IRSCompliance #BusinessTaxTips

If I could teach every business owner ONE thing about taxes—it would be this: Not every write-off is worth it. Sure, you can deduct: ✔ Meals ✔ Travel ✔ Home office expenses But here’s what many owners miss: ❌ The deduction might only save you 25–30% ❌ You’re still spending 100% of your cash ❌ Poor documentation can lead to IRS scrutiny Smart tax planning isn’t about gaming the system. It’s about making profitable, sustainable decisions and optimizing the tax result. Write-offs don’t build wealth. Profit does. #TaxStrategy #SmallBusinessAdvice #SmartDeductions #TaxPlanningWisdom
