School finance is an ongoing problem, but whilst the quality of education is being compromised due to a lack of money and schools are being forced to do more with less, we will continue to put pressure on MPs and continue our campaign for better school funding.

Given that ~80% of school policies relate to legal requirements, I believe the DfE should write and update them, and schools should only need to link to them on their websites. The constant writing, updating, checking, ratifying of policies is bonkers and massive workload issue.

Today I turn 30 YEARS OLD, which means it’s been 14 YEARS since I was on #EducatingYorkshire. Incredibly, I’m now the SAME AGE Mr Burton was when he changed my life. As I say goodbye to my 20s, I dedicate this post to the life-changing teachers who never gave up on me. Thank you

Nice to know if you have SEND children who didn’t do SATs in a cohort then your progress figures will be absolutely hammered. 50% of prior middle ability got 110 plus scaled score, 75% passed, average is 106, 36% SEND cohort, 5EHCPs 4 didn’t do tests so negative progress it is.

January 2025 we were inspected and I never wanted to go back. I did get back with support from friends but I don’t think I will ever be the same person again. I and my team were left devastated by a team that didn’t understand the context we work in. I hope things have changed

Given Gove & his acolytes are claiming all the credit for Englands improved PISA scores, will they also be owning the failings in the SEND system, the billions of high needs debt kept off balance sheets, the issues around recruitment and retention
Or are they glory hunters?

Comments on this post show how common it is for distressed staff to be further hurt by insensitive school leaders. Our baby died on January 28th 1984. On the 30th my head rang. Those days are a blur in my memory but I recall very clearly him asking: "When are you coming back?"

Crucial evidence from NAHT's James Bowen to the Edu Select Committee.
To be serious about retaining school leaders means addressing two huge pressures driving them out: unsustainable workload and a punitive inspection system.
We can't pretend Ofsted isn't part of the problem.
