Grade Fire โ Cuesta Grade
You may have received a Wireless Emergency Alert from the County of San Luis Obispo. Fire crews are responding to the Grade Fire east of Highway 101 on the Cuesta Grade, north of San Luis Obispo. An evacuation order is in effect for an area east of Highway 101.
The Grade Fire is not impacting the Cal Poly campus at this time. Cal Poly Emergency Management is monitoring the incident.
Traffic: Northbound Highway 101 is experiencing significant traffic impacts through the Cuesta Grade due to emergency response operations. Travelers should expect delays.
Alternate Route: Travelers who need to reach the Paso Robles/North County area may use Highway 1 north through Morro Bay and Highway 46 east to reconnect with Highway 101. This is a significant detour; allow additional travel time.
Updates will be provided if conditions affecting Cal Poly change.

The most meaningful moments of my NASA career were supporting astronauts and their families through missions, and mentoring interns and new hires as they began their own journeys in technical and public service.
Service is ultimately about people, all people.
Iโm excited to share that I have joined my alma mater, @CalPoly, focused on strategic initiatives, partnerships and philanthropy.
As I retire from the U.S. Navy and transition to NASA astronaut emeritus, Iโm grateful to continue serving NASA while beginning this new chapter at Cal Poly.
I look forward to helping create more opportunities for the next generation of STEM, faith, and service leaders through Cal Polyโs Learn by Doing education.
