🚲 A journey to remember, honor, and reflect. On August 3, CAL FIRE personnel joined firefighters from across the country to cycle from San Francisco to New York (Ground Zero) to honor the 343 firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Along the 3,000-mile-long route, riders are remembering the 343, their families, and the many firefighters, military members, and public servants who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others. After more than a month on the road, the riders will arrive in New York on September 11, marking the 25th anniversary of the attacks. The Bay to Brooklyn Memorial Bicycle Ride recognizes the lives lost that day, and the lasting impact September 11 had on the nation and the fire service. Since the attack, an additional 469 firefighters have died from illnesses related to their work at the World Trade Center. #BayToBrooklyn #NeverForget

The events of that day remind us of the strength found in service, community, and our shared commitment to one another. As we reflect on the lasting impact of 9/11, we remember not only what was lost, but also the unity and determination that emerged in its aftermath. Never forget.
