Statement from the Media Center of the East Kurdistan Defense Units (PJAK) As the Kurdish people and public opinion know, in recent days there have been large-scale attacks carried out by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard against our forces. We, the East Kurdistan Defense Units, have consistently informed the public and our people about the outcomes of these attacks and clashes. We especially emphasize that we acted according to our independent policy and our Third Line approach in response to the attacks and the war that was waged against Iran. We did not side with any party and did not launch any attacks against Iran. Even during the weakest periods of the Iranian regime, we have maintained our own capabilities and independent policy. During the recent agreement reached between the United States and the Iranian regime, the forces of the Revolutionary Guard, along with security and intelligence forces, significantly intensified their attacks against our people and our forces. They took advantage of the current situation and targeted our forces with their cowardly attacks. Our people and public opinion know that since the night of June 27, a military operation began in the Mahabad region, in the village of Qaghach and its surrounding areas. In a previous statement, we announced that we still lacked some information regarding this operation and the military attack. Based on the information we received from the area, the regime’s forces, in large numbers, attacked our forces with heavy weapons during this operation. These attacks resulted in deaths and injuries among the Revolutionary Guard forces, who suffered heavy losses. At the same time, four of our comrades—two women and two men—resisted until their last drop of blood and were martyred bravely. We will inform the public and our people of the identities and details of our martyred comrades in the coming days. We, the East Kurdistan Defense Units, will conduct a field assessment of these recent attacks against our forces at the appropriate time and place.
