Note from Kim, founder of @CakeEquity
We saw the news about @pulley today. As a founder, I’m sad to see them go. @yinyinwu and the Pulley team built something a lot of founders genuinely loved!
In Pulley’s own 2025 comparison, Pulley ranked Cake equal on every criterion they chose. No other tool did.
If you are one of the thousands of companies now facing a forced migration, I want you to know that you can still choose the destination.
Our team at Cake will personally handle your migration for free and we are also offering 20% off for the month of September to support the transition and disruption to your business.
Where Cake wins:
- We handle your entire migration. Cap table, stakeholders, grant history, free and accurate.
- Built for wherever you’re headed next, from your first SAFE to your most complex round
- We also have the easiest platform to use - 4.8/5 at G2, if in doubt
- Fast and helpful support team
- Compliance depth carried over cleanly
- An employee app your team can log in and be motivated
- MCP integration to integrate your own intelligence into Cake
If you want to talk it through before 12/8, we’re here to help. cakeequity.com/demo-request
Hey @andywang 👋
As a company building accounting software that integrates with Carta… we migrated from Pulley to Cake and it was surprisingly good
- Super fast migration by a person responding every few hours
- Even spotted a mistake to the pool calculation from Pulley numbers
- Transparent pricing, pay for what you need
Only negative: their app feels a bit vibecoded
@CakeEquity mcp. Stay within your context, your agent - add your cap table... Grok on.
Building a startup is hard—and seeing one shut down is a sobering reminder of what’s at stake.
At Cake, sustainable growth gives us the freedom to keep building creatively and helping startups succeed.

CEO at @CakeEquity is offering free migration to @pulley customers
Sorry to hear the news about @pulley a great team to compete with. If you're weighing up cap table platforms: @CakeEquity is the top rated equity mgmt software on G2 & a PLG award winner. @pulley's own 2025 comparison ranked us level on every criteria cakeequity.com
Form 3921 deadline is March 31.
If anyone on your team exercised stock options in 2025, you need to file — with the IRS and with your employees.
Five days left.
A founder's first hire left a $200K salary to join her pre-revenue startup.
It wasn't the equity that convinced him. It was mission.
But mission gets people in the door. Transparent equity keeps them there. You need both.
AI startups are raising at two different valuations in the same round — one price for strategic investors, another for financial.
The cap table math gets wild. Model it before you sign.
Got that nagging feeling you might need to update your 409A?
Most founders wait too long. A qualified third party gives you safe harbor — the IRS has to prove you wrong instead of you proving you're right.
Check if you need one: cakeequity.com/tools/409a-va…
Steve Jobs was given stock options deemed "in the money." Not taxed appropriately.
That one case is why every startup founder today has to get a 409A valuation.
Here's what it means for you 🧵
Get it wrong and the consequences will show up later — for you and your team.
Steve covers what that looks like in the full video → youtu.be/huO5GxarILo?si=WaRH…
About to sign an offer?
Before you sign up, it helps to know what you're being offered. We really liked these tips from Conor Macken on what to know ahead of time
Is your biggest strength actually holding you back?
Fresh out of the oven, our CEO @KimHansenYeah spoke to @glenngow1 on the Scaling CEO podcast about leadership and keeping focus.

🙃That is the question
The Cake team learned a lot from when we expanded into the US in 2021, and there's many a lesson to be shared.
