Mr. Mustapha Haidaoui, Minister of Youth and Chairman of the Higher Youth Council, welcomed Ms. Hassnaa Tamam, @AU_AYAPs for the #NorthAfrica region. The meeting explored ways to strengthen cooperation and exchange experiences in youth empowerment and in promoting the values of peace and security.
The meeting introduced the #Algerian experience in empowering young people and involving them in development and decision making. It highlighted the Higher Youth Council as a consultative body and institutional framework that allows young people to contribute to public policy and voice their concerns and aspirations.
The Ambassador also held a meeting with officials from the #HigherYouthCouncil and the Ministry of Youth, where she was debriefed on the mandate, organizational structure, and main initiatives of both institutions, including their programs and activities. These focus on supporting young people, building their capacities, strengthening their engagement in public life, and protecting them from various threats.
Ms. Tamam expressed appreciation for Algeria's achievements in youth empowerment, notably the adoption of the #NationalYouthStrategy.
Discussions also covered prospects for deeper continental cooperation and exchange of expertise among relevant institutions . The aim is to strengthen young people's contribution to conflict prevention, a culture of dialogue, coexistence and solidarity, and to peace, stability, and sustainable development across Africa.
The meeting was attended by Ms. Hajer Aissaoui, Vice Chair of the Higher Youth Council for Institutional Relations and Exchange, a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and senior officials from both the Ministry of Youth and the Higher Youth Council.
