From Canada's 1994 report to the United Nations on climate change. That's 30 years ago.
We call on the federal government to withdraw the oil and gas emissions cap, which risks Canada’s economic stability & competitiveness. We need flexible, industry-driven initiatives to decarbonize while supporting energy security & jobs. Our statement: calgarychamber.com/emissions…

At a time when Albertans are looking for action on critical issues—healthcare, housing, education, community safety, and the cost of living—the provincial government has chosen to focus their time and energy on meddling in local democracy through Bill 20.

Newly released study shows that separated bike lanes reduce maximum car speeds by 28%, average speeds for turning cars by 21%, and 8% for cars going straight. If cities want to reduce speeding, they should install separated/protected bike lanes—it’ll also get more people biking!

#Ableg Garnett Genuis is among the most SECRETIVE MPs in Canada. 🤫 He has a LENGTHY track record of being a discreetly funded opponent of LGBTQ+ & women's rights Here are FIVE incidents EXPOSING how @GarnettGenuis is a problematic MP and a threat to Canada’s democracy:

"we’re in it together" - Since when? Alberta has hardcore neoliberalism for everything else - the school system can't even provide food for low-income kids. But when oil & gas co's need public cash suddenly we are all comrades. (2/2)

"a little help", "investment", "to stimulate activities", "carrots" are all euphemisms used to hide what is being proposed, which is to directly violate the polluter pays principle and provide public subsidies for the costs of producing oil and gas. (1/2) calgaryherald.com/business/e…

If the carbon tax really does end up going down and politicians genuinely care about minimizing costs on individuals then we're pretty much giving up the fight on climate. The entire point of a carbon tax is that it is the single lowest cost way to reduce emissions.

Apropos of nothing, as in maybe nobody cares, but removing the carbon tax + rebate is a very regressive action (ie. hurts the poor, helps richer households). But hey, populism! 🥳 sigh…

The Alberta govt says it’s moving ahead with legislation that would require parents to proactively sign up to have their children opt-in for sex ed (rather than the usual practice of opting out). On a related note, here are some AHS STI stats theglobeandmail.com/canada/a… #ableg

AB Health Minister Adriana LaGrange unable to explain how switching to Covenant Health would not reduce access to health services (eg: reproductive health care, MAID). Great questioning by @ShayeGanam to repeatedly ask and challenge LaGrange on her non-answers. #ableg #abpoli
