Guess what, tourists already pay tax on hotel stays…it’s called VAT and it’s currently 20% in the UK. Way higher than our European counterparts who currently have a tourist tax. People are sick of paying TAX and seeing no improvement to quality of life or public services.

The Crooked House, a historic Grade II listed 18th century Black Country pub, was sold to developers a few days ago.
Last night it burnt down. The lane to the pub apparently blocked.

A horrific video has emerged online showing a gang of youths beating up a 13 year old boy as a group, before stealing his bike. The location is Neville Street, Pallion, and occured on Monday.

We have been let down/ stiffed by what we believe to be a large fake booking for today
They strung us along all week with queries and increased the numbers over n over. It was deliberate and calculated
We spent so much time trying to accommodate them, rebuilding the table plans, ordering in extra food, especially for them, turning away genuine bookings for regulars and locals in the meantime, and then when it came to taking a deposit,
they just tried to bluff it
Only for a bit of intuition would we be left with an empty restaurant and lots of food left over, and a demoralised team
It’s so hard. We try so hard to make our guests happy, only to get shafted
Yes, it’s our fault. We should have got a deposit from the get-go
But they were so convincing they had us focused on menus and allergens etc
It’s so tough to swallow after a long week
Anyway, we let our guard down, not even that we were trying to be hospitable. It’s in our nature
My own belief is that it was somebody in the trade being a snake 🐍 and I’ll get to the bottom of it, but for now, it’s time to try and save the day
It would be great to fill those tables, so if you fancy a nice bit of nosh today, you’ll be doing us a solid

The destruction of Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant is a terrible technogenic, ecological and humanitarian catastrophe.
The aftermath of destroying the dam of Kakhovka HPP have been modeled previously - they are on the video.
The future of Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is also at question. Water to cool off its reactors comes from Kakhovska water reservoir. Expert opinion is needed on that.
Flooding resulting from the destruction can lead to many deaths. A lot of people will lose their homes as settelements might be flooded. Mass evacuation has already started.
It's an ecological catastrophe - tens of thousands tons of fish and unique biosphere will die. The nests of millions of birds in the wetlands along the left bank of the Dnieper river have been flooded.
The North Crimean canal will now dry out and will remain dry for a long time. People in the south and in Crimea will be left without drinking water.
