Fuck it. Sorry Flugel. This is misleading and most likely driven by envy of the title or engagement bait. Mushoku Tensei is deemed the “grandfather of isekai” not because it was the first every isekai to come out or have the first fantasy theme- it’s dubbed this because it inspired everything that came after it. Take for example “The beginning after the end”…highly praised, well received (we don’t talk about the anime) inspired by Mushoku Tensei. There was a bold departure from the pattern set by Familiar of Zero: reincarnation. Re:Zero, Shield hero, Familiar of Zero, Overlord, so on and so forth and hell even something like konosuba (bear with me) follow the pattern of: brought into the world as you are. Development is primarily seen through learning about the world and how to assimilate or change it. Mushoku Tensei was one the first to really think about what it meant to start over. A new mother. Father. Siblings. How does that impact a person born with the memories of their old life? And MT went the extra mile-how does that impact a person who isn’t just a shut in, but someone who has suffered from years of isolation and self neglect. Many LN have come and tried to recreate that and failed, because it is HARD to write with the honesty and vulnerability Rifujin wrote Rudy’s thoughts. Does slop then exist because of it? Yes. But just because fast food chains exist the value of the world’s first gourmet burger isn’t diminished. You also conveniently left out how Tappei said he took inspiration from MT and called it his “life” as opposed to those that normally say Clannad (highly regarded as one of the best romance series) and fail to consider the numerous authors in Beginning of Two Lifetimes that share their praise and appreciation for MTs existence and inspiration. Furthermore, inspiration is not the absence of talent and influence. The best writers bit off each other in one way or another, otherwise how would one continue to learn and improve? MT also took inspiration from ASIOF, do you suddenly present the notion that GRRM is the real grandfather of isekai or do you NOW understand the separation of circumstantial inspiration and development over plagiarism and copying?

I can directly respond but yeah my reaction would be more along the lines of “damn this person went through what I did and probably hurts even more than me because of said disability, I should ask them if I could help at all because k understand how tough that trail was.” Ya know. Like a normal person. Do you generally have that low self esteem about yourself or do you fundamentally misunderstand what it means to empathize with someone?
