Today, we mark #WorldMaritimeDay 2026, together with the international maritime community, under the @IMOHQ theme “From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence.” For Shipping, turning policy into practice means translating international standards and decisions into action that delivers safety, security, efficiency and environmental sustainability, while keeping our #Seafarers at the centre. In today’s challenging geopolitical environment, protecting them remains an absolute priority, as they ensure the delivery of essential goods worldwide. At the same time, the industry’s #Energy and #Environmental transition requires a clear global regulatory framework, new technologies and fuels, investment and new skills across the maritime workforce. Effective implementation therefore depends on strong local and international cooperation and practical solutions. On #WorldMaritimeDay, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that the voice of the Cyprus Shipping Industry is heard where decisions are made, and that policy translates into real action, supporting a Shipping Industry that is safe, sustainable and resilient, with its people at the centre. Happy World Maritime Day! ⚓ #WorldMaritimeDay2026 #MaritimePolicytoPractice

Behind every shipment delivered, every supermarket stocked and every economy connected, there is a #Seafarer making it possible. This year’s #DayoftheSeafarer is not only a moment to recognise their contribution, but also to acknowledge the realities many seafarers continue to face. Long periods away from home, demanding working conditions and challenges at sea and as the Theme says “Carrying world trade. Carrying the risks.” While Seafarers carry world trade, they should not have to carry these challenges alone. Today, we stand with Seafarers everywhere and express our respect, appreciation and continue our support for the people who keep global trade moving safely across the world’s oceans and protect them. We therefore, fully support today’s declaration, released by @shippingics, of ten key policy focus areas for international governments to use as we drive this positive change for seafarers’ lives. ℹ️ Read the Policies here: shorturl.at/9SYNW #DayoftheSeafarer2026 @IMOHQ
