I'm voting NDP out of spite in the next election.
Ontario is stepping up to protect workers being hit by President Trump’s latest economic attack. By expanding the Protect Ontario Financing Program, we’re helping businesses hit by U.S. import bans and previous rounds of tariffs keep their doors opens and workers on the job. Great preview of what Canadians can expect from that Belgian sea-witch Ursula.

We already had the lowest tax rate and companies weren't investing, so what gives? It's because regardless of the marginal tax rate, corporations (esp. energy) pay through the nose through the industrial carbon tax and insane regulations in this country.
We just announced Canada’s new Productivity Mega Deduction. This cuts Canada’s marginal effective tax rate from 13% to 6.4% on new business investment — the lowest of any major economy in the world. Canada is building big — and becoming the best place in the world to build. More here: pm.gc.ca/en/news/news-releas…

This always happens. They use the word populist like it's a bad thing. These people either: A. don't know the English language B. attempting to subvert the use of a word to implement their own social and political agenda I say B

I can't believe this farce of substituting trade with 🇪🇺 over 🇺🇸 is actually a plan in Canada. Here is why it will fail miserably 🧵

5. The EU offers market access that is legally open but practically asymmetric CETA cut tariffs, but Canadian agri-food still hits hormone rules, residue limits, GIs, and certification walls; beef and pork quotas have been barely used. EU cheese and wine fill Canadian quotas far more successfully. CBAM and other extra-territorial climate rules add compliance costs on Canadian steel and aluminum. CETA itself is still not fully ratified in every member state. The U.S. relationship is politically volatile right now, but it is a single customs and regulatory counterpart with existing deep integration. Swapping a strained but enormous, integrated partner for a fragmented, protectionist-in-practice one does not improve Canada’s terms of trade.

In sum: - Chronically weaker productivity growth than the U.S. - Persistently high industrial energy costs versus North America. - Competitiveness loss and shrinking global export shares. - Demographic aging and fiscal pressure from pensions, defence, and the green transition. /End

Update: Canadians just want to play geopolitics simulator with mods and cheat codes.
NEW POLL: “Elbows up” is not a blank cheque 75% of Canadians surveyed favour holding firm in the trade dispute even if economic costs last longer, yet approximately 68% find increased household job-loss risk unacceptable as part of Canada’s response to U.S. tariffs. 🇨🇦🧵 1/4
