i implore anyone to do serious research before putting your parents or whoever in a facility like this. they lie to prospective families to get you in the door and then you never hear about what really happens on the day-to-day. it's a nightmare.

My sister, who has spent years wanting to work in healthcare, and is in school for it, has worked at a nursing home (in the memory unit) for a month and in that short time the horrors and abuses all around have all but killed her desire for the profession

most of her coworkers are new hires, because people are unwilling to put up with the insane demands for the pay. and some of who do work there are fat bums who go on 2 hour breaks and leave others to their responsibilites. my sister has worked 16 hour shifts with no breaks

In a place where people pay 5-6k monthly to live, the workers only make ~$15 an hour (low even for this area), are understaffed, working overtime, have no resources (not even wipes!), no help for difficult people, and are often 1-2 people per hallway of a dozen or more patients
