Honoring Rev. Jesse L. Jackson’s legacy means more than remembrance. It means continuing the work he demanded: making democracy real through economic justice. At Community Voices Heard, we’ll keep organizing for dignified housing and economic security for New Yorkers.

In October 2027, the financial burden shifts to states. Now NY will have to pay the federal government back for ANY error (wrong amount given, paperwork mistake, anything) AND fund part of SNAP. If NY wants to avoid penalties, it'll have to make SNAP nearly impossible to access.

In January 2026, work requirements will tighten eligibility. In July 2026, states will start enforcing through paperwork barriers. Then January 2027 hits – SNAP benefits stop adjusting for inflation. Grocery prices will keep going up, but your #SNAP benefits don't.
