I’ve spent a few days thinking about the Tesla Roadster reveal and landed somewhere I haven’t seen much discussion. I’m neither a Tesla fanboy nor a Tesla hater. And I couldn’t care less whether what we saw technically qualifies as a flying car. Three takeaways: (1) The risk of that live demonstration going horribly wrong was real. Almost no CEO would willingly expose their company to that kind of public humiliation for a product with so little financial upside. Elon did. (2) That willingness to attempt the seemingly impossible is what makes Tesla special. It’s also arguably Elon’s greatest contribution to America. He’s helped bring back something we’ve lost. The American spirit of chasing big scary ideas that most people think are impossible. That mindset is spreading across a new generation of founders and its long term impact on America’s future could dwarf anything Tesla ever sells. I think this is deeply underappreciated. (3) Can we just acknowledge how insanely cool that moment was? We’ve reached a strange place culturally where even extraordinary feats of human ingenuity immediately become arguments about why they don’t count. Not everything needs to be a debate. Sometimes we should just be able to stand back together and marvel at what humans are capable of. I’ve been both bullish and critical of Tesla’s ambitions over the years. But watching Elon and his team push the boundaries of what’s possible reminds me why I’m glad we have him. Whether the Roadster ever makes Tesla a dollar or impacts $TSLA stock price is almost beside the point. We need more people willing to risk failure in pursuit of things the rest of us think are impossible. Because when they succeed we all win.
Top 10 S&P 500 companies by market cap as of today, Oct 16:
$NVDA $5.23T
$AAPL $5.04T
$GOOGL $4.17T
$MSFT $3.98T
$AMZN $2.74T
$SPCX $1.94T
$META $1.85T
$AVGO $1.61T
$TSLA $1.46T
$BRK.B $1.14T
($LLY just outside at $1.12T)
Now look at that list again.... honestly.... how many of them actually MAKE something?
Two. Tesla and SpaceX. That's it.
They're the only two in the top 10 building end products AND controlling their own supply chain. Some of the others make things, sure, but not end-user products. And Apple? Apple designs it and hands it to a contract manufacturer. They don't own the supply chain.
This is massively underappreciated. The factory is the product. People don't know what's coming. 🇺🇸 – at Safety Harbor, FL
Come on guys.... admit it.... Netflix is suffering from being woke and pushing trans BS on kids. You know it. You look like buffoons trying to figure out another reason.

So there's still been no collisions and only 1 near miss. It would appear by the chart (which is not a very good chart since it doesn't show what type of incidents have caused the most recent increase) that the increase is from Safety Concerns, which is completely subjective, and thereby subject to manipulation. Remarkable performance really. – at Safety Harbor, FL

Ouch. Worse than I thought. Might be time to buy some Delta puts. The only risk i thought was the $DAL CEO could always pivot, but this is not a position he likely pivots from. He's dug in like an Alabama tick. – at Safety Harbor, FL
CEO of Delta finally gave the reason they did not adopt Starlink:
“We do not want to be with Elon Musk. Trust me.”
Side note: at a different, earlier event, Ed also said that [Delta] did test with starlink, but did not want to partner with Elon. “If you know his reputation, it’s all true what they say about him.”
@Delta didn't adopt Starlink because they do not care about their customers they only care about their political opinions and they are filled with bias hatred and beuracracy.
They will be left behind and I will make sure I never personally fly Delta.
"People aren't ready, this is gonna change everything"
You know what people weren't ready for? Fucking mammoths. Tigers eating them. Monkeys ripping their arms off. The black plague. The ice age. Smallpox. Vikings pulling up on the beach. Drinking water that gives you diarrhea until you die. Getting a scratch and losing your whole leg. The Mongols. The Spanish Inquisition.
One volcano can send us back to the dark ages and these safety guys are gonna be shocked. Oh the robots didn't kill us? It was a volcano? Imagine their disappointment as the hot ash rains down on them.
A solar flare is gonna explode your phone in your pocket your legs are gonna be covered in battery acid and your bank account will stop working. You're afraid of a computer program doing math?
"Things are moving too fast" homie you live on a rock that periodically deletes everything. You are one the most luckiest entities in a 100 light year radius living during a golden era. Cheer up.
My ancestors crossed an ocean in a wooden box because they ran out of fucking potatoes.
"The social disruption will be enormous!"
Nigga World War 2? World War 2? Hop in the people carrier we're landing on the beach.
Are these people out of their fucking minds? Do they not know what we've survived already?
A couple decades of air conditioning and people suddenly think oh this is the natural condition of mankind. No. We used to have eight kids because seven didn't make it. You're gonna be fine. Man the fuck up.
Accelerate.
They aren't worried about humanity. They're worried about losing control of the narrative. They are worried that it has become easier to seek truth. They need heavy government regulations to control the bias. – at Safety Harbor, FL

It’s impossible to get in a self-driving Tesla and not be optimistic about the future. Trust me. Try it. It’s like living in the future.
All this BS just to try to change a network password, only to find out none of it worked and I need to rename the network on the router. All because Apple sucks and refuses to let me forget the network or just change the password. No issues with Samsung. – at St Petersburg, FL
Enough with the bullshit. Elon Musk's cash compensation was zero. He bought $1bil of TSLA at $390. UBER is a dead man walking. Buying UBER stock is as dumb as partnering with drivers unions. – at Safety Harbor, FL
$UBER CEO’s purchase is material.
His cash compensation last year was $3.9 million, and he bought $10 million worth of shares.
That’s more than 2x his annual cash compensation.
You wouldn’t just burn that kind of money to improve the stock’s image if you didn’t really believe in the business.
No other company cuts through bullshit better than Telsa (except maybe SpaceX). It is truly remarkable. – at Gandy, FL
Big news at the @spaceX and @Tesla Terafab site today … foundation construction is already underway with a long rectangular graded area getting footing excavation rock. This is possibly the first part of the main structure, but at this stage, very hard to tell, but nonetheless, this is showing the pace here is very fast!
More land clearing and backs grade work around the western “Phase” 1 of the site today, about 40% to 50% more than I saw on my first trip just shy of 1 month ago. The county-wide burn ban has not slowed the progress at the site as you can see with these images from today’s drone flight.
More ruck activity on the main construction road along with additional temporary operations and staging areas on the newly cleared parts of the site. There is a Starlink ground station here as well, which I reported on 2 weeks ago … I cannot say if it is active yet or not.
I will have a full video out soon, but for now, enjoy these new images! 1/2
