I have stated why I haven't trusted most polling firms for decades since most of them are nothing more than push polling sites trying to force a desire outcome rather than take the pulse of the actual electorate, but pretending that the polls are completely off base is a fool's errand, one which will leave you in tears the morning after the election.

Boos mean nothing once you’ve seen what earns their applause. The moment you see what makes them cheer, their hatred becomes almost reassuring. Never measure yourself by the judgment of people whose applause belongs to ruin.

My dear Wormwood, You still think in terms of churches and arguments. That is why you fail. The churches can be left standing. What must be spoiled is the literature that taught the young to love the Enemy before they could define Him. Narnia is one of the more irritating of those books. Children meet Aslan first as adventure and only later discover they have been handling Christ. That is dangerous. Direct attack only makes the stories more precious. So we do not ban them. We adapt them. Give the Voice to a so-called celebrated actress. Leave the mane. Leave the pronouns. Then the thing that was a male Christ-supposition becomes a prestige performance. The story remains famous; the meaning becomes negotiable. In a generation the story will still be beloved, but the beloved thing will no longer be Lewis’s Lion. It will be the version that flatters the age. That is how the Enemies literature is destroyed without the vulgarity of a bonfire. Keep the title. Change the sound. When the children hear Aslan, let them hear the present century speaking through Him. Once that habit is formed, the Enemies stories survive as brands. Their doctrine does not. Do not call it persecution. Call it interpretation. The patients prefer that word, and it does our work admirably. Your affectionate uncle, SCREWTAPE
Meryl Streep will officially voice Aslan in Greta Gerwig’s ‘NARNIA: THE MAGICIAN'S NEPHEW’. 🔗 empireonline.com/movies/news…

Y2K was real. And fixed for $600 billion. The remedial work of millions of people around the world was so good that Y2K is falsely held up as an example of extreme scaremongering. Instead, it should be celebrated as one of the best ever examples of successful project execution.

The middle of the California desert, there's a desolate oven of a place called "Death Valley". In the middle of Death Valley, there's a deep crack in the earth called "Devil's Hole". Deep in the middle of that crack, there's a puddle. In that puddle, lives a species of goldfish. It's not really all that dissimilar from the goldfish in a tank at the petstore, at least not in any way that really matters, but for people who care about these things, it's a distinct species. And it lives nowhere else on Earth. Except this puddle. In the middle of one of the most vicious deserts on the planet, where it's hotter than Satan's asscrack for most of the year. At some point, some yahoo put it on the endangered species list. Technically, it qualifies, of course. There's only about 500 of them, give or take. But the list is really intended for helping us do something about animal species that happen to find themselves under humanity's vast technological footprint. The fish isn't endangered because of us. It's endangered because it lives in the stupidest place on Earth. But, and here's the important bit, if you could have conversation with the fish, it wouldn't agree. It would argue, quite vehemently and with a lot of gurgling, that the puddle is not only the best place, but the only place, because everywhere outside the puddle is utterly hostile to fish. They would know this from having swum to the surface and glanced around briefly. And if one of the fish were to agree with you, were to spend a lot of time at the surface, trying to catch a glimpse of distant rivers and lakes and oceans, the other fish would consider him insane. Doubly so when he started trying to fit wheels to an aquarium. To them, there is only the puddle. The natural habitat of the Puddlefish. This post is not about fish.
Eric and Wendy Schmidt are spending hundreds of millions of dollars of their own money to put a 3-meter telescope in orbit in 2029. Bigger than Hubble. This panel at @DragonCon is dismissive of them as amateurs. Can’t believe they will meet their schedule or capability commitments. The only credible path forward would be to hire “hundreds of people” with experience on Hubble, JWST, etc. The lack of vision is really depressing. Crabs in a bucket.

Thank you everyone for the wonderful birthday wishes. I am truly humbled and appreciate all the love from so many friends. And thanks to all the corporations who collected my data over the years to schedule a birthday notification by text or email. Thanks Cheesecake Factory, Bob Smith Toyota, Pasadena Eye Medical Group, and so many more. Too many, frankly.

Around 150 mph for a 10 second fall time which imparts roughly 190 tons of impact force. That's what your fellow Americans, who chose to jump instead of burn... that's what they went through. Stop playing nice. Stop being tolerant. Stop spending money with them. Get it in your head that they hate you... because they fucking hate you.

Jeff Bezos @JeffBezos , I’m asking you to look at this once through the eyes of the people wearing the uniform since you own @washingtonpost. We volunteered and accepted the bargain. Missed birthdays, broken bodies, years away from our families, hostile fire, and the possibility that if we die, our families get roughly $500,000 in life insurance. In much of America today, that barely buys a house. We know our lot and we’re not complaining about it. But the job is hard enough without having to wonder whether an American newspaper is going to publish classified wartime command deliberations because its newsroom despises the administration and wants another cheap political scalp. Fight the President, the Secretary, the Pentagon. Whatever, that’s politics. But when the ammunition for that fight is information tied to ongoing operations and the private judgments of senior commanders, you’re spending our risk to buy your headline. That’s the part WE need you to understand. Murphy already gets a vote. So does the enemy. Exhaustion, bad intelligence, mechanical failure and plain rotten luck all get votes. We volunteered to face those things. We did NOT volunteer to become collateral damage in the Washington Post’s feud with an administration it hates. Your reporters will publish the piece, watch the engagement numbers, and go home. Some American kid will still be standing watch when they do. Jeff, give us a fucking chance. Come on man. You’ve got to clean house at that paper. The journalists are too blackpilled to be of any use anymore. In fact, they’re literally harming us. Our brothers and sisters are in a worse situation now due to this reporting. Don’t agree with the combat operations, fine. But come on. Leaking an SDOB? That’s objectively insane behavior. ***to my followers: share so we know he sees this.***

The Third World begins the exact moment a society alters its daily life to accommodate the failure of the state, rather than forcing the state to fix the failure. It is defined by what the people learn to live with. When a community accepts that municipal water will never run from the tap, and instead celebrates a plastic bulk water storage tank as a luxury, that is the Third World mindset. When citizens buy private generators, dig private boreholes, hire private security, and pay private medical bills, all while continuing to pay taxes to a corrupt ruling elite, they are actively financing a Third World reality. The infrastructure collapses because the public's threshold for outrage has collapsed. Mediocrity becomes the national baseline.
In South Africa, the ANC hands out a water tank during election season and calls it governance. Thirty years in power, and the flagship achievement on the campaign trail is a plastic tank, not a functioning municipal water system, not fixed infrastructure, just a tank, wheeled out with cameras rolling and comrades smiling for the gallery. This is what "service delivery" has been reduced to, a photo-op standing in for policy, a handout standing in for a plan. The taps have been dry for years. The pipes are corroded. The reservoirs are neglected. But none of that matters as long as there's a banner, a tank, and a chance to remind the community who to vote for in four weeks. It's not development. It's a transaction dressed up as generosity, solve nothing, fix nothing, just show up with a tank and ask for another term.

My uncle left his right kneecap and two best friends in the sands outside Fallujah when he was nineteen years old. Last Tuesday, he sat on a cracked vinyl chair in a VA hospital waiting room with his cane between his knees. His lower back was on fire. He was told the earliest appointment for an MRI scan was in seven months. Seven. Months. He didn’t yell. He didn’t flip a table. He just swallowed hard, put his veteran cap back on his bald head, and whispered: "They're doing their best, son." On the drive home, we passed the old Holiday Inn three miles down the highway. Whole building block-booked by the city. Fresh white linen on every bed. High-speed Wi-Fi. Three hot catered meals a day. Two private security guards at the glass entrance scanning key cards for men who crossed the southern border seventy-two hours ago. Look at the two pictures. A boy who gave his flesh and blood to this flag sits on a broken chair waiting seven months for a scan. A man who broke federal law to enter this soil gets a warm bed, three hot meals, and a plastic key card before his boots are even dry. This is not broken bureaucracy. This is a deliberate insult. Tell me to my face: Who is this government working for? The soldier who bled for it, or the trespasser who took the room?

This video is WAY too nice to communists but… socialism appeals most to the young and the young will shut down if you just call them idiots. And the evidence is so overwhelming it’s hard to call them anything but idiots. So… probably a good idea to sit down and watch this with your family as a primer.

Did a bit of research on this yesterday. This shootout happened right in front of a Flock camera. There are 17 other flock-style cameras within a one mile radius of this event. The police have zero suspects, and have made zero arrests almost four days later. Some are owned by Motorola, some are owned by Flock Safety, and some are owned by Axon. @Flock_Safety and like-minded systems are not about protecting citizens or enforcing the law. They are an attempt to nationalize the HOA system to increase non-tax related revenue from minor infractions in complete violation of every American's 4th Ammendment right. Your local government doesn't seek to take criminals off of the street. It seeks more money from your wallet now that taxation has reached its natural cap, and the "ALPR" system is how they've elected to increase revenue from fines. This will become more insidious when city governments start selling off that revenue to foreign nations for fast budget bumps, like when Chicago sold their parking meter revenue over 75 years to Abu Dhabi in 2008. With a government run surveillance system this large, it should be impossible for crime like this to go unpunished for longer than 12 hours. Since we are not seeing that level of security, we should all believe instead that the system is not about security at all. City and state officials pushing ALPR cameras need to be removed from their office by any means nessecary.
