Olivia Rodrigo says she was inspired by Kendrick Lamar’s ‘HUMBLE’ for her track ‘expectations’ 🔥
“When I wrote ‘expectations,’ initially, it was kind of like as a challenge to myself. I wanted to write a mantra song. I wanted to be like, "I want to sing this song every night." It's like Kendrick Lamar, "Sit down, be humble," it gets in your brain. You know what I mean? It's a mantra.”
She also cited Chappell Roan as an influence. (via Zane Lowe)
Extra fact:

pgLang’s newest signee, Imani Imani, says she’s worked on music with Kendrick Lamar 👀
“‘So, her and Kenny have been working together, then?’ She smiles mischievously. We’ve been in the studio at some point, yeah.”
She also described learning from Kendrick by simply observing his energy in the studio:
“When I was in the studio with him, I would just watch, just be the audience and be like, ‘Wow, I want to see how you work.’ I would learn from that. Kendrick is the type of person, I think, who you don’t have to be around much or talk to a lot to get his energy and be inspired by it. And that is something that’s really special.” (via Wonderland)
