I wanna ask Fortran/Cobol/Algol/Lisp programmers who also coded in Assembly - how long until you stopped missing writing Assembly code?

I put together some general + web rules for coding agents, inspired by things I kept repeating and other people’s work. I’ll keep improving them. Maybe one day we won’t need AGENTS.md at all 🙂 github.com/jitendravyas/codi…

9 months later, the day has finally come. Today I am finally putting it live on Product Hunt: NextDoor.Company - find hand-curated top-tier startups hiring nearby you. I launched NextDoor.Company as a solopreneur last year when I quit my $15,000 monthly salary job to build something that I can be proud of and run as a lifestyle business. This one has felt like giving birth. Long nights, endless iteration, perfecting every user interaction, messaging thousands of paid users manually and learning from their experience, and hand curating hundreds of startups one by one. If you've enjoyed watching me build, I'd love your support today. Help me spread the word by reposting this and upvoting the product on Product hunt by going here: producthunt.com/products/nex… And yes, to celebrate the launch, the lifetime plan on NextDoor.Company is going to be flat ~42% OFF for the rest of the week. You'll find the discount code in the PH page. Use it during checkout.

A new AI tool just exposed what may be one of the biggest hidden problems in modern science. Researchers used it to scan about 2.6 million cancer studies published between 1999 and 2024. It flagged more than 250,000 of them as showing the writing patterns of papers suspected to be churned out by fraud factories, known as paper mills. These are fake or low quality studies made to look real, often sold to researchers who need publications to advance. The worry is that some of this junk has been quietly shaping real medical knowledge for years. It is a reminder that even science, the thing we trust to be careful, can be flooded with fakes when there is money and pressure behind it.

I think programming languages are dead, as in there can't be any more innovation in programming languages. Here's why: Improvement in programming languages happens when developers use programming language. They write code using that programming language. Throughout that process, they realize certain parts are good and certain parts are bad. Developers give feedback on all these, language team works on the feedback, specs are written and the language evolves. But today, developers don't write code anymore. Reviewing code is also quickly vanishing. We don't see code anymore - means we don't know how the programming language is being used. What's great and what could have been better. We are just getting our work done with whatever state a language is in. We don't really need anything else from languages anymore (unless its a something significantly user facing, like performance). We don't care, we are satisfied. And this only means one thing - programming languages will slowly cease to evolve. With just the language team being the only ones write code in that langugage, by hand!
