As part of the 85th CSIR Foundation Day celebrations, Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala delivered the Foundation Day Lecture on “Making India a Product Nation.”
Through a detailed presentation, Prof. Jhunjhunwala discussed several key aspects related to strengthening India’s capabilities in science, technology, innovation and indigenous product development. He highlighted the importance of translating research and technological expertise into scalable, industry-oriented solutions and fostering stronger linkages between R&D institutions and industry.
The lecture was followed by the CSIR–Industry Leadership Dialogue, providing a platform for scientific and industry leaders to exchange perspectives on technology development, research–industry collaboration and the role of innovation in addressing national priorities.
The session emphasised the significance of a strong Science–Technology–Industry ecosystem in advancing indigenous technological capabilities and contributing to India’s long-term development objectives.

85th Foundation Day Celebrations of #CSIR:
The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is celebrating over eight decades of scientific excellence and innovation.
Established in 1942, CSIR today operates through a network of 37 national laboratories and has contributed significantly to the growth of various industrial sectors.
The notable innovations include the National Aroma Mission, Swaraj Tractor, indelible election ink, Saheli contraceptive pill, and indigenous Paracetamol technology, among others.
It has also pioneered sustainable solutions such as bio-jet fuel and steel slag roads.
In recent times, some of the notable achievements include the HANSA-NG aircraft, sickle cell anaemia test kit, hydrogen fuel-cell catamaran, and RO Bus.
To mark its remarkable journey and this special milestone, launched the Special CSIR@85 Postal Stamp, the Tech Connect Special Issue, CSIR Technology Compendium, Industry Connect Special Short Film, and the special mascot named CIRA.
