Transportation choice means giving people viable options—walking, cycling, transit, or driving. Streets built for multiple modes reduce car dependence, congestion, emissions, and the amount of public space devoted to automobiles.
Mixed-use development brings housing, retail, offices, and civic uses closer together—reducing car dependence and keeping streets active throughout the day. Integrating uses creates more vibrant, resilient neighborhoods than separating them.
Density and compactness make walkable neighborhoods, efficient transit, and stronger tax base. By concentrating activity, compact form shortens trips, lowers infrastructure costs, and supports vibrant communities. Done well, density creates more livable neighborhoods.
