Coach T Message: πŸ€ Coaches, as I get ready for school ball season, one thing I’ve learned over the years is that practice has to be built around development, not just getting through drills. Every year I look at my practice plan and ask myself: Are we using every rim in the gym? Are enough kids getting reps? Is everybody moving with purpose? Full-team drills are important, but if you have 12–15 players and only a few are working while everybody else is standing in line, you’re losing valuable development time. Use your space. Use your baskets. Break into small groups. Create stations. Keep the pace high. I want kids shooting, passing, handling the ball, making reads, defending, communicating, and competing as much as possible. There will be times when we need all five players together to teach team concepts, but there also has to be a major emphasis on individual skill development. Less standing. Less waiting. More reps. More teaching. More competition. A good practice isn’t about how many drills you get through. It’s about how many quality reps your players get and how much better they are when they walk out of the gym. Development is the key. Make every rim, every rep, and every minute count. πŸ€πŸ’―
