We are pleased to be sponsoring Mangotsfield U15's, providing the team with new coats and jumpers to keep them warm and dry throughout the season.

We're delighted to be able to support the team and wish the players and coaches every success for the season ahead.
Ahead of World Mental Health Day tomorrow, colleagues across CMB's offices and sites were encouraged to wear purple in support of mental health awareness.
At CMB, we recognise the importance of promoting positive mental health and ensuring our colleagues know where to access support when they need it.
As part of this commitment, we are pleased to have renewed our Company Supporter membership with The Lighthouse Charity, which provides free, confidential, 24/7 emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families.
Our continued partnership with Lighthouse Charity helps us promote the valuable services available to those working across our industry, while encouraging open conversations about mental health within our own teams.
Thank you to everyone who took part and showed their support!

This month marks an important milestone for CMB, reflecting how much has been achieved at Fairwater Community Campus over the past two years.
When ISG entered administration in September 2024, the project faced a period of significant uncertainty. The buildings were not yet watertight, 80% of the construction works remained to be carried out, a significant amount of plant/materials were due to be delivered, and there was no immediate route forward. Over 300 construction workers and their employers faced an uncertain future.
At the time, CMB Managing Director Steve Borley was receiving calls from concerned directors who encouraged CMB to engage with the Council in an interim capacity given our Principal Contractor experience. In response, Steve spoke with Cardiff Council and offered our support, alongside that of the entire supply chain and former ISG employees. The proposal was that BESL (CMB’s parent company) would step in and progress the project in line with the original programme whilst the Council looked at a long-term solution.
What followed was an exceptional collective effort from Cardiff Council, the project teams, the supply chain and wider stakeholders to regain momentum, safeguard hundreds of jobs and ensure a hugely important project for the local community was seen through to completion.
The significance of that achievement was considerable. Organisations, local businesses and individuals across the project came together, took responsibility and found a way forward. It required resilience, trust and an enormous amount of hard work from everyone involved, and it paid off – with every original completion target achieved and the time lost during the uncertainty recovered.
That effort was ultimately rewarded with an award-winning project that the city, the schools and everyone involved can be proud of. What initially began as a short-term safeguarding exercise, developed into a fully collaborative two-year construction project, successfully delivered under the BESL banner.
Today, the result of the hard work can be seen every day. Cantonian, Riverbank, Woodlands and Copa are now complete, with 1,700 pupils and more than 300 members of staff learning and working across the campus.
As BESL’s role as Principal Contractor draws to a close, we’re incredibly proud of the part we have played and grateful to everyone who has contributed along the way. Reflecting on the final handover, Steve commented: “In my 50+ years in the industry, I have never witnessed such a calm and stress-free handover of a project, particularly just two years after the demise of the original Principal Contractor. That is a remarkable testament to everyone involved.”
With September marking exactly two years since the project faced such uncertainty, where it stands today feels all the more meaningful. A significant journey, an exceptional collective effort in the face of adversity, and something everyone involved can look back on with immense pride.

A closer look inside HiVE...
Following our project handover update earlier this year, we wanted to share some of the finished spaces inside this impressive new facility in Ebbw Vale.
Designed to support up to 600 learners, HiVE provides state-of-the-art training environments for robotics, advanced manufacturing, digital technologies and engineering.
CMB initially joined the project as the M&E contractor before stepping in as Principal Contractor following ISG’s administration. We are incredibly proud to have helped bring the project to completion and to see the facility now supporting the next generation of STEM talent in Wales.

A warm welcome to our four newest apprentices, Joshua Cozens, Fraser Herbert, Ieuan Buttle and Noah Hamid, who have joined CMB this month to begin their four-year apprenticeships.
Apprenticeships have always played a central role in CMB’s success. Our long-standing ‘train and retain’ approach allows us to develop skilled professionals while creating lasting career opportunities within the business.
Over the coming years, Joshua, Fraser, Ieuan and Noah will combine classroom learning with valuable hands-on experience. They will spend two days each week working in CMB’s Cardiff Academy, with the remainder of their time split between college and our live project sites.
CMB Director, Rob Borley added: "As CMB’s first apprentice 29 years ago, it’s incredibly rewarding to see the next generation starting out in their careers. CMB are proud to continue supporting, training, and investing in the future talent that will shape our industry."
We’re delighted to have them on board and look forward to supporting them as they begin their careers with CMB.
After 26 years of dedicated service, we are saying farewell to one of the biggest characters in CMB’s Cardiff office, as Jayne Hounsell begins her well-deserved retirement.
Jayne has always brought personality, energy and laughter to CMB and her retirement will leave a considerable gap in the finance department. She is truly one of a kind, and her experience, personality and sense of fun will be greatly missed across the business.
On behalf of everyone at CMB Engineering, we would like to thank Jayne for her many years of service and wish her a very happy and fulfilling retirement!
Following almost two years as Principal Contractor on the largest single-campus educational facility in Wales, BESL is now approaching the full handover of Fairwater Community Campus.
The occupation of the final two schools is scheduled to take place with BESL moving off site from today (Friday 28th August). School staff will occupy the buildings from Tuesday 1st September, with Cantonian pupils phased to return from Wednesday 2nd September and Riverbank and Woodland pupils phased to return from Monday 7th September. This will support the transition from construction delivery to education delivery.
The main visitor access to all three schools will be from Fairwater Road, with pupil access for Cantonian being from the south footpath of Doyle Avenue or from Fairwater Road. Pupil transport for Riverbank and Woodlands will be accessible via Doyle Avenue.
Fairwater Community Campus has marked an unforgettable chapter in our company’s history. It has been a privilege to deliver such an important development, and we look forward to seeing the campus serve pupils, families and the wider community for generations to come.
For any concerns relating to the project or its activities arising after August 28th, please contact @cardiffcouncil via [email protected] or the individual schools directly.

Earlier this year, CMB was appointed to transform @CardiffCityFC training facility at @TheValeResort – with just six weeks to complete the refurbishment before the players returned for pre-season.
The project created a brighter, more modern environment throughout, including a gym doubled in size, new cushioned flooring, sauna and player lounge, a dedicated analysis theatre, expanded medical facilities, and a complete redecoration and rebrand.
Given our long-standing ties to Cardiff City FC, this was a project that carried real pride for everyone involved and the players were genuinely impressed by the transformation on their return.
We hope the new facilities give the team everything they need for a successful return to the Championship. Read more via the article below 👇

We’re proud to share that CMB has once again been recognised in the Wales Business Insider Top 100 Owner-Managed Businesses for 2026.
This marks our third consecutive year on the list – and our highest ranking to date. Having placed 55th in 2024 and 44th in 2025, we’re delighted to have climbed to 23rd place in 2026.
This continued progress is a fantastic reflection of the hard work, commitment and ambition of everyone at CMB, as well as the ongoing support from our customers and partners 👏
Supporting grassroots sport and creating opportunities within our local communities has always been a priority at CMB Engineering.
When discussions first began about creating @llanutd_women, our Managing Director, Steve Borley, was keen to get involved. Alongside becoming the club’s main sponsor, we provided marketing and creative support before the team was established, helping to launch its first-ever player recruitment campaign.
Just two years later, the club has secured back-to-back promotions and reached the Adran South, achieving its original five-year plan in only two seasons.
It has been fantastic to watch manager and former Cardiff City FC player Catherine Walsh, along with the players, coaches and volunteers, build something truly special. Their ambition, commitment and hard work have been rewarded every step of the way, and we are proud to have played a part in the club’s journey from day one.
But the journey is far from over. With their sights now set on establishing themselves in the Adran South and continuing their rise towards the Adran Premier (the highest level of women’s football in Wales) we have every confidence that they will continue turning ambition into achievement.
Congratulations to everyone involved. This is far more than an ordinary corporate sponsorship; it is a partnership we are genuinely proud to be part of, and we are excited to watch Llanrumney United Women write the next chapter of an already incredible story.

This club has just begun on an incredible journey with a great story behind them as they enter the second tier of women’s football in Wales in just their 3rd season . Come along on the journey to the Women’s premier League
A huge thank you to CMB for their continued support of our club. We’re incredibly proud to have them continuing with us this season as our front-of-shirt sponsor on both playing kits, as well as our training kit.

A pleasure as always!
A huge thank you to BESL (@CMBEngineering) for making this ALN Summer Holiday Programme possible, and to @CCFC_Foundation for delivering four fantastic weeks of football at House of Sport. 💙
It was brilliant to see so many children get involved!
Earlier this month, Fairwater Community Campus received two further industry awards, adding to the growing list of accolades the project has earned throughout its delivery.
The project was named Innovation Award winner at the @CEWales 20th Anniversary Awards. This recognition is particularly meaningful as innovation has been at the heart of the project from the outset. From its forward-thinking design to the ambitious vision of bringing three entirely separate schools together on one modern campus, the development represents a truly innovative approach to education and community infrastructure.
The project also saw @cardiffcouncil recognised as Client of the Year at the @CNplus Awards, following a nomination from BESL, CMB's parent company. Since taking over as Principal Contractor, we have developed a fantastic working relationship with Cardiff Council. Their collaborative approach, trust and commitment to the project have played a significant role in its success, and we were delighted to see their contribution recognised with such a prestigious national award.
These latest awards are a testament to the expertise and collaborative effort shown by everyone involved in the project. We'd like to thank Cardiff Council, our project partners, supply chain and site teams for their continued commitment throughout.
