THREAD 🧵
On this International Women’s Day, I’d like to take this opportunity to talk to you about something.
I’ve discovered something incredible about Alba (Larsen)
At the age of 15, Alba set up Girls International Racing Lab, a community aimed at helping young girls discover motorsport. Through this community, Alba organises events such as go-karting sessions, meet-ups….
By organising races, meet-ups and mentoring sessions with Alba and other role models, the initiative has already engaged over 400 girls and young women in Denmark alone & Alba’s goal for this year is to reach 15,000 girls around the world.
In 2025, Alba received the FIA Women in Motorsport Award, as they recognised the impact G.I.R.L. was already having and the pathway it was starting to open up for young girls looking at racing for the first time

🔴 The comments from Horner inevitably fuelled further speculation about Fred Vasseur’s future, creating yet another distraction around the team. Internally, however, beyond the big management, the reaction has been one of greater unity. The team is primarily focused on a much more tangible objective: making the SF-26 as fast as possible.
In short, the noise generated by Horner seems to have had the opposite effect to what he might have expected. Rather than creating a split, it has helped bring the team closer together around the current management. Regardless of the appeal of a high-profile and widely recognised name such as the former Red Bull team principal, a large part of the team undoubtedly still favours Vasseur. Despite his shortcomings, which are well known at Maranello, the Frenchman continues to be regarded as the right person to carry the work forward.
The current results satisfy no one, and there is full awareness at Maranello that improvements are needed. This, however, does not mean that Vasseur’s leadership is being called into question. According to what @Auto_Racer_it learned, Ferrari’s confidence in Vasseur remains unchanged. This position was also officially reiterated by a Ferrari spokesperson, who firmly clarified that “Vasseur was not, and is not, in a position at risk.”
The real issue, therefore, remains performance. The competition has made significant gains with its latest upgrades, McLaren in particular, while Ferrari needs to regain momentum in its development programme. The response is expected in Austin, where the SF-26 will receive the fourth and final major upgrade package of the season. It will be an important step in an attempt to recover performance during the final part of the championship.
This is above all what Vasseur and his team are working on. The noise surrounding the leadership has created a distraction, but it has also triggered a sense of unity that is probably the opposite of what some might have expected. At Maranello today, the question is not who should be running Ferrari; it is how to make both cars faster!

I’d like to ask a question that I’m genuinely very interested in: for those of you who want Fred to leave, why do you want that? And why start a new cycle when we already know how the previous TPs failed?
And what makes you think that we won’t win with him?
A lot of people are worried and asking questions about the press conference and the statement, which, for many, reminds them of the way Mattia Binotto was defended before being fired.
First of all, there are several things that need to be taken into account. Between 2022 and now, Ferrari’s communication has changed COMPLETELY.
Back in 2022, the people handling Scuderia Ferrari’s communications were Silvia Frangipane and Francesca Montini. Both of them now hold different positions. Francesca, who was in charge of communications, left Ferrari in March 2025 after seven years with the team. Silvia is still with the team, but she is no longer in charge of communications, and her level of responsibility has decreased.
Maria Conti (Chief Communication officer) joined Ferrari in November 2025, and she has already had to deal with a few mini-crises, such as the launch of the Ferrari Luce. She has a huge amount of experience: she spent 7 years at Maserati, 3 years at Alfa Romeo, 2 years at FIAT, and 9 years within the BMW Group. She has held several big positions, so she knows how to handle pressure and situations like this. Of course, Ferrari is Ferrari, and it is unique in its own way.
Today, the fact that she decided to organise a meeting with the media says a lot, especially compared to 2022, when the response concerning Binotto was simply handled through a digital statement.
During the press conference, she said some very important things, and she showed a lot of character by inviting the very same media that had been fuelling these rumours. She handled herself very well for what was essentially her first mini media crisis involving the Scuderia.
Here are some interesting excerpts:
“Ferrari’s position is clear, has not changed, and Ferrari has made its choices already. We have confidence, full confidence, in Fred Vasseur and in his team, and we continue to do so.”
“Everybody — not just you guys, but also Italian media from all over the world — they are still creating a lot of different stories around Fred, and this is not useful. So this is why we decided to do that.”
Compared to the past, she also explicitly addressed the Horner rumours. By mentioning Horner by name, she directly rejected any kind of speculation involving Fred and Horner. She could have simply dismissed the rumours in a general way, but she was very precise and deliberately named Horner to make Ferrari’s position absolutely clear:
“We do not intend to fuel speculation or comment on assumptions coming from outside the company. It is not just related to the story in The Times of Mr. Horner, but in general there was other speculation also.”
“We would like to avoid that the next weekend in Malaysia will be focused only on this kind of gossip and speculation.”
She was also asked why she was the one communicating on the matter rather than John Elkann or Benedetto Vigna. Her answer was:
“Ferrari’s position is clear and does not change. I don’t have John and Benedetto with me, but I’m, of course, aligned with the top management, and Ferrari has made its choices. There is confidence in Fred Vasseur and his team. Nothing has changed, and we continue to do so. That’s it.”
She also added:
“We were not expecting to do any call and so on because normally we are used to have a lot of communication around Ferrari, in many different areas, and not just Scuderia. So why, from any news, do we need to put the chairman and the CEO in front of the camera? I think it’s enough, [to have] Maria.”
This communication is encouraging because it gives the team some breathing room and helps put out the media storm Ferrari has been dealing with since Monza.
In any case, Fred’s position has been clearly confirmed. First media crisis successfully handled for Maria Conti.
Now, focus on Sepang. 🇲🇾
🔴 Recent speculation has once again put Fred Vasseur at the very center of the discussion. However, according to what @Auto_Racer_it learned, the situation internally at Ferrari appears to be quite different from the picture being portrayed externally.
There continues to be a strong level of confidence in Vasseur at Maranello and, above all, there is no concrete search underway for his replacement. Any interest in Christian Horner is ruled out and, at present, there are no other candidates being considered for the role of team principal either.
The SF-27 will not be an evolution of the SF-26. The new Ferrari will feature an entirely new power unit and a different aerodynamic concept. It will not simply be an evolution of the 2026 car. It would therefore be possible to assess whether, by addressing the limitations that have emerged this season, the structure built over the past few years can finally aim for something more. In that case, it would probably make more sense to draw conclusions upon returning to Europe, or at least after the first significant races of 2027, when much more solid technical evidence will be available.
A victory in Malaysia would be exactly what is needed to bring the temperature back down, as happened in Barcelona. But the key point remains the same: as things stand, Ferrari is not working on a post-Vasseur scenario.
Not Horner. Not another candidate.

MARIA CONTI (CHIEF COMMUNICATION OFFICER): « We have full confidence in Fred Vasseur and in his team, and we continue to do so. At this time and in this particular moment, it's really important that the team remains united and cohesive, and we are focused all the energy on the work ahead.
And is not just related to the story in The Times of Mr Horner, but in general, there is a lot of speculation about Fred. So again, we have confidence in Fred Vasseur and in his team, and we continue to do so. And the position is clear, but not just now. We already confirmed in the past. »

🔴 BREAKING: FERRARI REACTS TO RUMORS SURROUNDING FRED VASSEUR:
Maranello initially chose not to intervene, hoping that the rumors would eventually die down. That did not happen, leading to the decision to call the media together to definitively clarify the company’s position.
« There has been quite a lot of speculation surrounding the Scuderia and its leadership. Many will have wondered why we did not respond sooner: simply because we hoped these things would come to an end. Ferrari’s position is clear and has not changed. Ferrari has made its decisions, and the trust in Fred Vasseur and his team was there and continues to be there.
Ferrari has always generated extraordinary interest, and that is also a sign of the strength of what it represents on a global level. We are proud of this, but we do not want to fuel speculation or assumptions coming from outside.
The aim is to shift the focus back to the work on track, particularly at a stage of the season when rivals have made significant gains in terms of performance.
All this noise does not help. It is also our responsibility to allow the team to focus on what it primarily needs to do, which is to try to achieve results on track. »
