A thread on #Sound, #Order and #Survival. The book is completely rewritten, though #PhD based. It still charts a year spent in a local men's #prison asking the community (staff and prisoners) about sound, but is the story of a prisons relationship with its city, place and people.
Congratulations to @KateHerrity for winning the @BritSocCrim #BSC2024 book award. What a superstar! Pick up the book from the @BrisUniPress stand for £20 before the end of the day tomorrow!

#BSC2024 felt like a reminder that being together as a community is our best defence against the university antics that continually pushes us to compete for funding, for publications, for jobs. And being a community focused on the problems of injustice feels like a powerful thing
For years to come historians will argue over the significance of the ‘criminological rebound’ that occurred at @BSC2024Strath but as they scour the digital records they may miss the crucial catalytic. Fortunately some were smuggled out and across the border.
What a brilliant, thought-provoking conference at @BSC2024Strath ! Huge thanks @weaver_beth @Louise_Brangan & all the organisers!!

Who is criminology? @carajardine says that neoliberal universities are not diverse enough, meaning we cant flourish as a discipline. Managerialism, unstoppable pace of demands, everything ranked.
This was a totally brilliant panel!
