"Mormons aren't Christian, they worship a different Jesus."
Let's check.
Our Jesus was born of Mary in Bethlehem.
He healed the sick, raised the dead, and forgave sins.
He bled in Gethsemane and died on the cross at Calvary.
He rose the third day with a glorified, resurrected body.
He is the Son of God and the only way to the Father.
That's the Jesus of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Which part is different?
The church's name is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Disagreeing about the creeds doesn't make it a different Jesus.

"If there were actual ancient manuscripts for the Book of Mormon..."
Okay. Name one book of the Bible with its original manuscript.
There are zero. Not one original of any book of the Bible survives. The oldest piece of the New Testament we have (P52) is a scrap of John about the size of a credit card, copied decades after John wrote.
Moses' tablets? Nobody has those either.
The Book of Mormon plates were seen by 11 men who put their names to it, and the Eight said they "did handle" the leaves "with our hands." None of them ever recanted, even the ones who left the Church.
So by your standard, the Bible fails first. Want to pick a different standard?

I agree that Jesus Christ alone is our Savior. But believing in the Book of Mormon doesn't mean we've abandoned Christ or the Bible.
Where does the Bible teach that God would never reveal additional scripture? 2 Timothy 3:16 says all scripture is inspired by God. It doesn't say God has finished speaking. John 21:25 even tells us that many things Jesus did weren't written down.
The Book of Mormon doesn't replace the Bible. It testifies of Jesus Christ. Mosiah 3:17 teaches that salvation comes only through the name of Christ. How is that a rejection of Christianity?
And think about this. The earliest Christians didn't have a completed New Testament. Were they somehow not Christians? Of course they were. Their faith was centered on Jesus Christ, just as ours is.
You say Christ alone is enough. I agree. But accepting additional revelation doesn't mean Christ isn't enough. The Bible itself is a collection of revelations given at different times through different prophets.
If accepting additional scripture means someone isn't Christian, then were the people who accepted Paul's letters rejecting Christ because they already had the scriptures?
The question isn't whether God can give additional scripture. The question is whether the Book of Mormon actually comes from Him.
I respect your right to disagree with our beliefs, but you can't establish that we're not Christians simply by insisting the Bible is the last word when the Bible itself never makes that claim.
We worship Jesus Christ as the Son of God, the resurrected Lord, and the only source of salvation. That's not a rejection of Christianity. That's faith in Christ.

The Book of Mormon takes place in the ancient Americas and, like the Bible, was written by Jesus Christ's followers. It teaches His gospel and testifies of Him. As you live the teachings found in the Book of Mormon, you can find peace and truth.

The events in the Book of Mormon actually happened. I believe it. It is indeed another Testament of Jesus Christ comparable to, and a companion of, The Holy Bible. It witnesses of Christ’s love for all.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints affirms that Jesus Christ came forth out of the grave and lives today as a resurrected being.
Clear evidence of Jesus Christ’s literal Resurrection—His physical appearance to His disciples and others after His crucifixion—can be found throughout the New Testament:
•At the site of the empty tomb, Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene, who was the first person to witness the resurrected Lord (see John 20:11–18).
•Cleopas and another disciple walked with the resurrected Christ on the road to Emmaus and later dined with Him (see Luke 24:13–35).
•Christ appeared to 10 of the Apostles and said, “Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have” (Luke 24:39). The Apostles gave Jesus “a piece of a broiled fish, and some honeycomb. And he took it, and did eat before them” (Luke 24:42–43).
•The Apostle Thomas felt the wounds in Jesus’ hands, feet, and side: “Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing” (John 20:27).
•More than 500 people simultaneously saw the risen Lord in Galilee (see 1 Corinthians 15:6).
•Paul stated he personally saw the resurrected Lord (see 1 Corinthians 15:8) and taught about the living Christ: “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept” (1 Corinthians 15:20).
The Apostle Paul taught, “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive” (1 Corinthians 15:22). Because of Christ’s Atonement and Resurrection, all who have ever lived on this earth will also be resurrected to live forever as resurrected beings.
The universal resurrection is certain, and it is literal. The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is truly the most glorious event in history.
Years ago my great-great-grandfather picked up a copy of the Book of Mormon for the first time. He opened it to the center and read a few pages. He then declared, “That book was either written by God or the devil, and I am going to find out who wrote it.” He read it through twice in the next 10 days and then declared, “The devil could not have written it—it must be from God.”

Miami is too flat. There also aren't seasons. These tech guys are too spiritually gnostic. They should be in Utah, taking hikes in nature. Being embodied. Understanding the beauty and limitations of the physical form has its own spiritual benefits.
Peter Thiel on why he chose to live in Miami over other cities:
“Austin’s a government town, a college town, and a wannabe hipster San Francisco town— 3 strikes and you’re out.”
“From 5th grade since 1977 I lived in California. I’m just a sucker for the weather.”

Why do we observe the law of the fast?
The Lord did not give us the law of the fast to add burdens to our lives. He gave it instead to relieve burdens, “to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke” (Isaiah 58:6).

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints invite each other and all men and women everywhere to “come unto Christ.”
As a prophet has told us in the Book of Mormon: “I would that ye should come unto Christ, who is the Holy One of Israel, and partake of his salvation, and the power of his redemption” (Omni 1:26).

“Sincerity doesn't make false doctrine true.”
@ScottRoberts post makes five assertions each of which depends on 4th–5th century creeds (Nicaea, Chalcedon) to define Christianity.
The Jesus of the creeds is not the Jesus revealed in scripture. The creedal language of "one substance" and "uncreated essence" appears nowhere in the Bible.

Teach Truth with Love: It takes courage to stand for truth. It takes even more courage to stand for truth with love.
When we try to love others by minimizing God’s laws, we separate ourselves from the one person who loves them the very most. The Savior showed love for the woman taken in adultery. But he also charged her to “go, and sin no more” (John 8:11).
For disciples of Jesus Christ, truth and love always walk together. I believe teaching truth with love will be the hallmark of Christ’s disciples in the last days.
For some this will require greater conviction. For others it will demand greater charity.
I know the Lord will help us as we strive to teach truth with love. #GeneralConference

Dallin H. Oaks is one of the most brilliant men alive
He’s given almost 110 sermons in the past four plus decades as a member of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles
I’ve listened to all of them multiple times. I try to listen to one sermon of his each day.
Today he gave one of the best sermons I’ve ever heard.
I hope you’ll consider watching it — or any of his past sermons.
Decades ago he was a whisker away from being appointed to the U. S. Supreme Court
That’s how brilliant he is.
God had other plans for him.
God had a ministry for him.
Remember the Bible teaches in Amos 3:7 that “Surely the Lord God will do nothing but He revealeth His secret until His servants the prophets.”
This living prophet Dallin H. Oaks just proclaimed that new scriptures will yet come forth which show how Jesus, after His resurrection 2,000 years ago, visited His “other sheep” which were not on the fold of Jerusalem.
I have known this before. But his reminder of these future revelations moved me today. I believe discover of additional ancient scriptures may happen sooner than I used to think.
The Bible is the word of God and it proclaims the divinity of Jesus Christ.
Another book also teaches that same truth; in fact, the title page of the Book of Mormon, first published in 1829, says it is written for “the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that JESUS is the CHRIST, the ETERNAL GOD, manifesting himself unto all nations.”
President Oaks confirmed that God and Christ remember all people on the entire earth and that grace is literally available to all, including what the scriptures call “the heather” — all are alike unto God and He remembers them all. Salvation is not for a chosen few who were somehow pre-destined.
Grace is available to all who come unto Christ (now, or even after they die, they will have a chance to receive His gifts of grace.)
Pres. Oaks said God expects us to seek truth via the scientific method and via the spiritual method — and that ultimately all scientific and spiritual truths will be in complete harmony.
He has always sought learning by study and by faith.
I believe this explains his brilliance. He finds truth in two powerful ways — reason and revelation.
As a #Learner I have always been drawn to study ancient texts and to discover the wisdom and lessons they contain.
A living Prophet of God just said we can expect further scriptures to come forth showing how Jesus Christ, The Eternal God, remembers all people everywhere.
I can hardly wait.
Oh yes, and remember when it happens, it was foretold, by a prophet of God.

Many of our hearts ache for loved ones who have stepped away from obedience to God’s laws.
In our grief, we continuously ponder the whys, hows, and what ifs. We feel we have failed. We preach, teach, and invite—but often to no avail.
By divine design, brothers and sisters, everyone must choose for themselves to follow Jesus Christ.
I ask you to turn over to Jesus Christ your despair for those wayward souls.
We cannot change their hearts, but He can; He is a God of miracles.
Our Savior has already paid for the sins and errant choices of all of God’s children, including those for whom you and I grieve. He knows them. He knows their hearts; He loves them. He gave His very life to bring them home, all the way home.
By the power of Jesus Christ’s Atonement, there is always a way back!
In the vernacular, the Savior says to all who grieve, “I’ve got this!”
Never, never, give up on those you love.
Remember Jesus Christ is the answer. He is, always has been, and always will be.
Trust Him. He’s got this!

A central theme of the Sunday morning session of the 196th Semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was about turning to Jesus Christ for peace and comfort amidst our trials and shortcomings.
“We all have present or future concerns or struggles we are trying to overcome,” said President Dallin H. Oaks (@OaksDallinH) during his closing remarks. “These may include questions or doubts. Whatever they are, the way to overcome them is to get closer to our Savior, Jesus Christ.”
He continued, “Again and again, He has taught us that He is the way. Focus on developing your faith in God and the mission of His Son, Jesus Christ. Strong faith requires more than strong desire. It means daily trying, one step at a time, with prayer and scriptural learning.”
The session also featured inspiring messages by President Henry B. Eyring (@EyringHB), First Counselor in the First Presidency, and Elders Quentin L. Cook (@CookQuentinL) and Neil L. Andersen (@AndersenNeilL) of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, among others.
