📌 LeukO 2026: Global Congress on Leukemias
The program continued with Marina Y Konopleva, exploring BCL-2 inhibition in AML, highlighting the successes achieved with this therapeutic approach as well as the challenges that remain in translating its potential into improved outcomes for patients.
The program then turned to chronic myeloid leukemia, with Dennis Kim discussing treatment-free remission in CML, where the field stands today, and where it may be heading next.
The congress also explored the rapidly evolving landscape of cellular therapies. Nelly Bejanyan examined cellular therapies beyond CAR-T, while khaoula M. focused on CAR-T therapy in ALL, addressing who may benefit, when treatment should be considered, and what comes next for this evolving approach.
The program then brought a global perspective to CML treatment. Aishatu Maude Suleiman shared how she treats CML in Nigeria, highlighting the practical considerations and regional perspectives that shape leukemia care across different healthcare settings.
The focus then shifted to the future of leukemia treatment, with Naveen Pemmaraju, MD exploring how early-phase clinical trials are redefining leukemia treatment and creating new opportunities for therapeutic innovation.
The program also turned to lower-risk myelodysplastic syndromes, with Rami Komrokji and Gabriele Todisco joining an “In Conversation” discussion on whether and how we can change the course of lower-risk MDS, examining emerging strategies and the potential to move beyond conventional approaches.
Together, these sessions are highlighting the rapidly changing landscape of leukemia care - from targeted BCL-2 inhibition and treatment-free remission to cellular therapies, early-phase trials, and new approaches to MDS, while bringing global perspectives into the conversation on the future of hematologic oncology.
